Curious will spring football be the norm? Curious to see how the shortened off season will be with spring then fall football.

9 games so I assume it will be 1 out of conference game and the rest in conference.

Where are you seeing 9 games? The MVFC and Southland have in the past week announced 8 game schedules with a Feb 20 start, 1 bye week. Big Sky had previously announced 8 game schedule.

I'm assuming the CAA will be similar, 8 CAA games with possibly a league champ game.

New QB, lost two FCS all American caliber player to UVA. Lost three great receivers. Lost a ton of great players on defensive, especially up front.

Could this team loose a couple games in the CAA, and miss the playoffs?

This will be an interesting season for many reasons in the spring.

We will be good defensively. Offensively, no matter who our QB is, all he has to do is competently hand off the football, a la Mickey ball. I would like to see a ton of Latrele Palmer this spring. We can throw an air ball a couple times a quarter to keep the D honest while running Latrele down our opponents' throats. That is all we need to do.

Would this be correct?

Week 1: Sat, 2/20
Week 2: Sat, 2/27
Week 3: Sat, 3/6
Week 4: Sat, 3/13
Week 5: Sat, 3/20 (1st day of Spring)
Week 6: Sat, 3/27
Week 7: Sat, 4/3
Week 8: Sat, 4/10
Week 9: Sat, 4/17 (Possibly a CAA champ game, or a bye week in there?)
https://jamesmadison.rivals.com/news/caa...for-spring
_______________
1st round: 4/24
Quarterfinals: Fri, 4/30-Sat, 5/1
Semifinals: Fri, 5/7-Sat, 5/8
Frisco: Between Fri, 5/14-Sun, 5/16

The NCAA ruling was max of 8 spring games in 13 weeks. I look for at least one bye to be built in. I think there may also be a week for games to try to be made up if any are postponed. The first possible week of a 13-week schedule would be Jan 23. Bundle up. I'd look for it to be front-loaded to accommodate cancellations (which will almost certainly happen).

MVFC is using the 9 weeks for 8 games, 1 bye week 2/20-4/17 that I mentioned above. Example UNI.

I would expect other conferences to be similar. Doubt anyone will start Jan.

Just the inverse of a usual season. Instead of starting out nice and then dealing with possible bitter cold, we’ll have it the other way around.

Do we know the North - South breakdown?

I've not looked - is it easy geographically?

So the CAA says “Conference play is anticipated to begin on March 6 and conclude on April 17,” and they’re only having 6 games as opposed to 8 that others are doing. Also, there won’t be a CAA championship game..

URI, UNH, Maine, Stony, Albany are definitely in the North. The final team would have to be either Nova or Delaware.

South would be the following:

UD
Towson
JMU
RU
W&M
Elon

My question is if other conferences are playing full conference schedules will there by any team to play non conference?

Also seems weird that it's 6 team divisions with all games within the division. Either they got something wrong, or I guess there might be a repeat matchup.

Six games means you play 5 other teams plus 1 crossover game as well as an OOC game or two. Who would we schedule from the North or OOC?

So it appears we got the tougher 6. Of course either side we are on would make it the toughest.

I keep thinking it's just a matter of time based on Coach and Facilities for UD. Surprised they have not been better the last couple years with the coaching change.

There will be a home and home with one division rival

https://twitter.com/Madia_DNRSports/stat...59489?s=19

I assume they'll do WM-UR, JMU-Elon, Towson-UD

Nothing like the Elon - JMU rivalry. 03-zzz

Perhaps Cig feels one.

I feel like JMU has no great rivalries in the CAA - that said I'm not sure Elon would be one of my top 5 teams to play.

I think the better schools in the CAA are changing. Stony and Albany have been in the league long enough to now have true CAA players. UNH is always good. Nova most years and Maine some years. URI is just bad.

UR and W&M are no longer in the top echelon. Towson and Elon are okay. UD should be our toughest game. We may have the easier division this year.

I agree. The Northern CAA teams have been stronger the last couple of years.
