URI, UNH, Maine, Stony, Albany are definitely in the North. The final team would have to be either Nova or Delaware.

South would be the following:

UD
Towson
JMU
RU
W&M
Elon

My question is if other conferences are playing full conference schedules will there by any team to play non conference?
Since UD & VU are huge rivals, they might flip Towson with VU. Of course Towson would balk at having to play all north. Or UD and VU could simply play OOC.

So it appears we got the tougher 6. Of course either side we are on would make it the toughest.

I keep thinking it's just a matter of time based on Coach and Facilities for UD. Surprised they have not been better the last couple years with the coaching change.
If they flipped VU with Towson, it would be even more lopsided

Not sure why people think the South is that tough. Towson lost its QB and Shane Simpson not thinking they will be very good. W&M and UR have been not been very good the last few years so that leaves a middling UD team that lost a lot and Elon. Other than having to play probably the best one twice not seeing a ton of strength. I actually think combo of UNH, VU, Maine, and Stony are way harder. Albany has had some decent squads the last few years as well.

RE: Spring 2021 Football Season Thread
Wasting some time looking at this..

South
JMU
Elon
RU
W&M
Towson
UD

Furthest trip: Towson-Elon 350 miles.

Teams playing 2x:
-JMU/Elon (209 miles).
-RU/W&M (59 miles) (rivalry game).
-Towson/UD (59 miles).

North
VU
SBU
Albany
URI
UNH
Maine

Furthest trip: VU-Maine 551 miles (only league wide plane trip if going by 400 miles) (Albany-Maine is borderline depending on route).

Teams playing 2x:
-Maine/UNH (200 miles) (rivalry game).
-SBU/Albany (197 miles) (rivalry game).
-VU/URI (262 miles).

Only 1 major rivalry would be broken up (UD/VU (they could still play OOC)). If the CAA flipped VU to the South, and Towson to the North, so UD & VU (44 miles apart) could play their rivalry game 2x, since VU is 80-90 miles further from the southern schools than Towson, and Towson is 80-90 miles further from the northern schools than VU, that would cause the schedule to go from 1 trip over 400 miles (VU Maine), to 3 (Towson-Maine, Towson-UNH, and VU-Elon). So I doubt they flip Towson and VU..

I'm not gonna lie, I'm surprised the CAA and JMU hasn't gone ahead and announced a spring schedule by now. Cignetti hinted in his zoom call the other day that at least a handful of CAA schools are still mulling not playing in the spring too. The league may have given them a deadline to make a decision and they'll need to rework the schedules if teams end up not playing.

Yes, the north is without question the stronger of the two potential divisions, based on last year's results.

Semi-OT but related to the CAA. William & Mary's Athletic Director, Samantha Huge, is resigning after wide spread controversy over the department's decision to cut seven sports.

If its multiple CAA schools, I would guess and/or the NY schools, Albany and SBU. Especially SBU, being in the NYC metro.

SBU out on ass end of LI where there has been about 50 cases a day over last two weeks. Not much in Albany County either with about 10 a day either so I would think it would be government driven but hard to allow Syracuse to play and travel and not let other schools do so in the spring.

The MACs reboot starts in a few weeks and nobody has any schedules publicized that I know of. So with still being 5 months out I’m not surprised, and wouldn’t be shocked to have anything finalized until the holidays.

Trey Lance announced he is declaring for the draft and will not play spring football so he can focus on the draft.

Bring on the purple confetti in Frisco this May!

It’s probably a smart move after his less than spectacular play in the last game. Playing in the Spring could only hurt his draft status, but I was hoping the Dukes would get a second shot at playing against him.

I was far from sober during the FCS Champ game last year, but didn’t Trey look rather pedestrian? If I recall he was just running all game.

NDSU was all Trey, but that was enough. I would have enjoyed a chance to even the outcome.

Receivers ran deep and Trey ran through a well blocked front four or five into a wide open field. He did little to know damage with his arm.

If by pedestrian, you mean he single handedly won the championship himself, then yes. He was very pedestrian.

RE: Spring 2021 Football Season Thread
I think the NDSU coaches were well prepared and their blocking schemes won the game along with the o lines execution. I honestly don’t remember one pass of significance from Trey. I remember his 44 yard TD run and the fake field goal TD as back breakers. The NDSU timeout at the end of the first half that negated a made field goal was huge along with Carters face mask penalty that gave NDSU a first down when JMU had NDSU pinned deep.

Those were the plays that determined the outcome for me not Trey’s running. It is easy to run though a large whole into a mostly empty field. He wasn’t breaking a lot of tackles to get his yards. When Trey ran option, JMU did a nice job of containing him.

Just one man’s opinion.

And that is the concern with Trey. No interceptions last year, but you do need to be able to pass in the NFL and I'm not sure he's a proven passer. The kid that was heartbroken he could not get a scholarship from Minnesota two years ago goes 3rd or 4th QB in the draft? That said if the (sorry) Redskins have a pick beyond 5 and he's available I would be excited to get him. There seems to be a lot of question marks and upside with Trey. He may be nothing in the NFL or perhaps he could blossom.

I feel like Trey has more potential to be a bust in the NFL than a superstar. He will be a more durable runner than RGIII but doesn't have the arm, nor the reads. His best role may be more of a 'slash' like Kordell Stewart was or Hill down in NOLA.

We're in agreement about the ????s surrounding Trey. Can he develop his passing game? I don't know, but if he was already a great passer he'd be a top 2 pick next year.

A QB is so key in the NFL - "I'd" take a shot at a top 10 QB which is certainly far from a certainty for Trey.
