MAC Presidents To Decide Friday
BOWLING GREEN — Mid-American Conference presidents will hold a Friday meeting to vote on the state of the 2020 fall football season, according to league sources.
The meeting will consider a six-game schedule for the football season. Under the proposal, the conference championship game would take place at Ford Field, its normal location.

My hope is that even if like only 8 teams vote yes, they still play with the option to opt out

Not my wish, but for financial reasons only, it would be to the MAC schools' advantage to play in the spring. They would be the only show in town in April and May and ESPN would cover them without any other football games on TV. Maybe then the MAC could demand more $$$ from television if they're the only game available to watch.

Only game in town except for the NBA, NHL, MLB,PGA Tour, MLS, etc.

The AAF inaugural CBS game ratings were around 3 mil. They still had over a 1mil on TNT for their other games. The MAC would do better than their usual 65k-300k if they played in the spring. I know we have had games over 1mil, but for an average we'd do better. March madness hopefully wouldn't be a competitor.
We would also likely NOT see guys about to be drafted if 8 other leagues had fall football... they'd be doing draft prep instead of playing.

My guess is MAC fanbases would drop about 30-40%. Just accelerating its decline with a move to the Spring.

And this fall there will be zero fans and no television, unless they play on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The one school that might hold everyone back is NIU. We are all having budget issues but NIU has been running on fumes for years and with increased costs due to covid, that just costs more money...........lets hope they vote yes.

Forget NIU. If they don't want to play, let them sit home and wither away to the FCS level.

RE: MAC Presidents To Decide Friday
The only viable option is Fall football. To be the only league playing in the spring is beyond ridiculous. Spring then Fall football?!?!. Will not work. Covid is here to stay for a while anyway. Play or pray because the next level of uncertainty and threat to the players and program is even worse.
The vote will be very interesting
Go Rockets!
