What exit fee? Canceling your season is not the same as leaving the conference. Also why are you so bent on punishing schools if they choose to not play during a pandemic?

Houston not playing could impact the tv payout. Houston is a big tv market. It’s either pay the exit fee or pay the difference in tv money for all the Houston games lost.

A team that doesn’t want to play against conference opponents after the conference has agreed to play... is an team choosing to exit the conference.

What else do you call it?

A team realizing that risking the safety of players in a season that has already been ruined by a pandemic isn’t worth it. By the way WE haven’t canceled any games yet. It has all been the other teams, (cough) (cough) Memphis. If that game doesn’t get played because of their actions I expect you to be yelling at them to pay exit fees too.

Then you get the ADs and the Presidents together and vote again. The conference either plays together or we quit together. But a team going off and doing its own thing is not acceptable.

UConn wanted to do its own thing too. No harm, just pay up and good riddance.

So money is more important than safety of players...? $7 million isn’t enough for that.

These players are in no danger. Jeeminy.

My son's middle school team has been playing for a month. Our HS team is coming up in their 5th game. Nobody's dying. Nobody's sick.

These colleges are just cowering from the magical mysterious covid boogeyman.

Playing this health risk card when college teams are getting better care & testing than anyone in the general society? What then is the health safety benefit of not playing? Sure the virus has proven to be serious, especially for those over 80 years old with co-morbidities. At the same time, not one college football player has even been hospitalized since practice began, much less developed long term cardiac issues, which BTW have shown to be temporary even for the one case (GSU QB) that has been publicised.

As of 2 days ago, 37 colleges reported 48,300 cases involving students. Of those cases, 2 required hospitalization, and zero deaths. That is less than the flu in an average year.

Ya but the flu doesn’t kill 200k a year... also wait until winter hits when it gets worse. Then you will unfortunately be very wrong, but if we are lucky sports will be shutdown by a new admin for the safety of players.

The average age of Covid deaths in the US is 75. We're talking about college age students. They are NOT at risk, actually less than the flu for their age group.

The fact that Covid kills old people at a higher rate than the flu doesn't impact the ability of college students to return to school or play football.

Worse how? Death continue to tend down per capita across the country. Hospitalizations continue to tend down per capita across the country. The only parameter trending up is cases & those due to the PCR test that is being run 40 cycles that will show positive for virtually anyone exposed including those who are well & not contagious. In fact, in the case of be Memphis, they were shut down by contact tracing back to a parent of one of the players. No one has been sick.

Ya but they can spread it to old people as asymptomatic carriers. But hey who cares about old people as long as we get sports right?

You realize we are predicting to have another 200k deaths by the end of the year right? I would say that’s worse than what we have now. But luckily I think sports will rightly be shut down once the elections are over.
