RE: Rank-Order these "G5" Unbeatens: Marshall, Coastal Carolina, Cincinnati,...
Cincinnati
BYU
Coastal
Marshall
Liberty
Liberty has the great chance to rise by at least one position if they can pull the win this weekend. But until then, hard to compare them favorably with the record of their opponents (though their first ACC win was sweet as a fan). If they do win, & win big Saturday, they have a good shot to skyrocket.

Seems we agree in a general sense that these are some very good football teams. I want to see Liberty play after reading some of these posts.

I think with their games vs NC State and VT that Liberty can really make a move. Most of the others - BYU excepted - are just playing conference schedules and so there is no outside frame of reference.

This is year 3 for Liberty in FBS. The upper classmen were recruited for FCS. The first FBS recruiting class started started in the spring of 2017 with a prospect funnel made up of upper FCS recruits. It's exciting to start the year off with 6 wins in a row. The schedule has been favorable to Liberty, but you play the teams on your schedule. 2020 has created a unique opportunity for each of the 5 undefeated 'G5' teams to have amplified exposure.
I would rank the teams 1a/b - BYU/Cincinnati 2/ Coastal Carolina 3/ Marshall 4/ Liberty
Last year, I traveled to the Liberty game at BYU when we lost 31-24 in a game that was contested throughout. The odds show this year's Liberty team is likely to lose 3 of the remaining games to VT, NC State and Coastal Carolina. It may end up that way, but I like the way that the team competes and think they can win one or two of them. Regardless of what happens the rest of the year, as a Liberty alum and fan, the view of the trajectory looks good.

Looks like the consensus is that it is quite close between Cincy and BYU, with Cincy perhaps having an edge right now.

You gents best hope that both Cincy and Indiana don't find a way to crack the four-team playoff. Because if so, Mr. Dazzle has some major surprises to unfurl on the board (I'm sure I just jinxed both UC and IU).
