He was so racist that he offered said walk-on a full scholarship and a job as a GA after the next season. He was so racist that for every former player that said he had racially insensitive comments, he had 10 former players say that he was absolutely not racist in any way.

It only takes one accusation against someone of his demographic and it negates a lifetime of good deeds. Those are the rules of the game now. You can either accept it or you will lose your entire livelihood. Your choice.

Gotta be perfect....good luck with that.

You have to be better than perfect. Even being perfect isn’t good enough. You have to both live a perfect life AND be violently vocal about your opposition to the faux “systemic racism” in the country, or you will pay the price.

That’s our new reality. This is what happens when you raise an entitled generation of kids that never had consequences for anything and everyone got participation trophies.

Ashamedly, I’m part of that miserable generation.

You don't have to be perfect. And there's no such thing as better than perfect. You just need to be civil, and part of being civil is that when you say something that might've offended someone, you apologize for it after, especially if we're talking about the workplace. I've been teaching math and coaching sports at the middle school level for 25 years and I've definitely not been perfect. I've said a couple things here and there, not racial mind you, but I didn't push it under the rug as if assuming my players or students would just forget about it. I addressed it the next day or even in that moment.

The only thing I've ever said in my 25 years that could even mildly be construed as racial (and I teach in a school that's about 45% Hispanic/Latino and 45% African American) is when I asked my students about why some pronounce the word "ask" the way they do. But I did so out of genuine curiosity, not as a criticism, and I told them before I said it that I didn't mean to offend anyone because it wasn't intended as a racial thing, and purely as a phonetic thing. Students can generally spot the difference between someone who's being genuine btw and someone who isn't. But I brought it up around Halloween because in talking about masks in class, my students always pronounced "mask" perfectly, but when you take the "m" out, the word "ask" is often pronounced "axe", and that just never made sense to me, so I just wanted to see if they could maybe shed some light on it. Turns out they couldn't, but the point is we just need to be civil, not perfect.

There were a ton of past players that came to his defense. Far more past players came to his defense vs. the handful of players that backed the player who made the original complaints.

I don't think anyone would say Kaspar wasn't a coach that coached hard and sometimes used colorful language that could be deemed inappropriate by some. That's something Kaspar probably should've tried to evolve with the times with and didn't. But it was a small percentage of players that thought his words and actions were rooted in racism vs. a large percentage of players that defended his actions and said he always had their best interest at heart, citing friendships that have lasted long after they quit playing, frequently speaking with him on the phone for years after their playing days, invites to the Kaspar's home for holiday dinners, birthday cakes being baked on players' birthdays by Kaspar's wife, Kaspar offering to be used for job references for ex-players, etc.

Offensive is in the eye of the beholder. But by most accounts it was a small percentage of players who found Kaspar to be unacceptably offensive.

It is sad we live in a day and age I can't make over 100k to make obviously racist comments to the players on the team that allow me to make over 100k a year. I thought this was uhmerka!

you need to be more understanding of the oppressed white male. sarcasm aside the whole point of the issue is being ignored. the coach resigned because his career was over. his behavior is now public and he is not going to be able to recruit non-white players of the same quality as his sunbelt competition. Texas State was about to become a sunbelt bottom dweller. when you livelihood largely depends on the loyalty of young black males its a good ideal to not openly be a bigot. its just plain stupid. its not 1970 anymore these kids are not just going to shut up and take it and its about damn time. Kaspar lost his job because he was an idiot who shat were he ate. the same reason Vic Koenning is no longer at West Virginia. its about recruiting.

Yup, and I repeat when the only standard is "if someone's offended that's enough to put them on a pillory" standard you end up with a bunch of Coleman Silk and ludicrous standards with an endless list of rules you have to be wary of at all times.

So, no white person has ever chased chickens or been a gangster? I'm white and I've chased chickens a few times. Hearing a phrase like that would make practice more enjoyable. It's not uncommon for coaches to have requirements on players' appearance; my college football coach did not allow any facial hair.

Thousands of white people chase chickens every year for Mardi Gras in south Louisiana. Rocky chased a chicken, I’m not following why Chasing a chicken is racist

I grew up chasing chickens. My ancestors chased chickens. I am also white. Should I be offended?

So if a coach uses the term “**** fighting” should any gay kid within ear shot be offended and have that coach fired?

Just trying to figure out just how far the lunacy is being extended.

You'll have to tell us what **** is. Is it a homophobic slur? If so, then I can understand why a gay kid within earshot would be offended.

I don’t know why that was auto-censored. It’s another word for “male chicken.” Starts with a “c”, ends with a “k”, and rhymes with “knock.”

So if someone references a cockfight, are gay kids going to get offended?

I’m obviously being facetious and just pointing out the ridiculousness of our country these days.
