I don't have a problem saying "right now" SMU/UC are #1-2/2-1, but if we're going to dig into last years metrics, I can easily dismiss your one conference win against USF. They were not good last year.
Every team in the conference has some holes IMO.
Memphis (Secondary is god-awful)
UCF (Defense is above average at best)(Too much Bombs-away on offense)
UC (I'm not a Ridder fan-game manager)
SMU (major injuries to key players)(anemic running attack)
Our running attack is fine, especially for an Air Raid offense. Hell, we had the #1 rusher in CFB up until yesterday, regardless of competition.
It's point #1 a about the injuries that is really the issue.

Covid-19 is our #1 injury. Our RB Kenneth Gainwell is not a RB you want to face. Tragically, he's lost 4 family members to the Coronavirus, so he's bowed out for the entire season.

Every team has injuries. Tulsa lost their starting tailback and middle linebacker for the season to ACL tears during practice the week before the OSU game.

No doubt. As I pointed out on another thread you were without your best player for the game, and I am fully aware of his well-deserved preseason All-American status. Also aware of the impact Covid has had on his family, so no judgement here.
But the point made was about our weaknesses, not the Tigers, and we have a capable rushing attack, especially without the injuries.

That freshman Bentley (I believe that’s his name) is going to be a stud. You can see it and I know he was killing it before our game.

Explain to me how UCF falls all the way to 5 with Tulsa surpassing them, yet SMU which beat Memphis is still behind in your rankings. Just looking for consistency because if you are going off in-season results, SMU should be no lower than second. If you are going off body of work for the last year there is no way UCF falls down to fifth.

RE: Rating the AAC
From what I have seen - there is not much difference in the top 5 teams.
1. UC (tie)
1. SMU (tie)
2. Tulsa (based on win at UCF and playing Ok. St. well)
3. UCF (tie)
3. Memphis (tie)
4. Navy
5. Tulane
6. USF
7. ECU
I'm unable to rank Houston or Temple until they play.

RE: Rating the AAC
.
Great week for (#18) SMU and (#32) Tulsa (46 votes)!
Terrible week for the AAC as a whole!
UCF (blown away by Tulsa; dropped from #11 to #29)
Memphis (out-run by SMU; dropped from #25 to #40)
Navy (bombed & strafed by Air Force; now 1-2, possibly scuttled)
NOTE: Navy has won their one battle at sea, but has lost their air and land battles.
.
There are now two AAC teams in the top 25, including #11 Cincinnati, and three in the top 30, including #29 UCF
In consolation, #40 Memphis only lost by 3 on the road vs. a top 25 team.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good week for the other non-P5 conferences and independents:
#15 BYU (Independent)
#23 Louisiana (Sun Belt)
#31 Marshall (C-USA; 49 votes)
#35 Coastal Carolina (Sun Belt; 25 votes)
#39 UAB (C-USA; 15 votes)
#40 Army (Independent; 14 votes)
#47 Air Force (MWC; 4 votes)

1. Because I thought it would be fun.
2. Memphis was coming off a big delay from COVID and lost by 3, on the road. I think Memphis is better than SMU and I think home/road matters.
3. I actually kind of think UCF is better than Tulsa...BUT Tulsa won on UCF's home field so I can't justify keeping UCF above Tulsa (and Tulsa has a really good defensive performance against OSU to their credit as well).
4. You'll notice I have those 5 as contenders. It's because I could see any of them winning the league (maybe not Tulsa, but they've earned their spot there for now and I could be being irrational about them). I'm sure my mind will change multiple times the rest of the way.
5. Because I still think it was fun.

Looking Good - SMU (Offense clicking), Cincinnati (Defense clicking)
Dangerously Gifted - Memphis, UCF, Tulsa
Unknown - Houston, Temple
Strange, up and down - Tulane, Navy
