RE: Women's basketball 2020-21
The women play Buffalo at about 1:30 Wednesday in the MAC quarterfinals. The game starts a half-hour after the 11 a.m. game between No. 1 seed Bowling Green and No. 8 Eastern Michigan ends.

All of the quarterfinals and semifinals are on ESPN+, as are the men's quarterfinals. Women's finals and men's semis and finals are on the CBS Sports Network.

There's a very detailed tournament preview on the blog at https://wbbFlashes.com. (You'll need to scroll past the all-conference post to get to it. Nila Blackford was second team, Lindsey Thall all-defensive, and Thall and Katie Shumate honorable mention.)

Highlights from an interview with coach Todd Starkey:

-- Starting guard Clare Kelly and freshman post Lexi Jackson, who both missed Saturday's Akron game with injuries, are "day to day." I'm almost certain Kelly will play. Jackson has a high ankle sprain, which can linger forever.
-- Starkey thinks the team's defense is at its best of the season.
-- He worries about the team's shooting, which wasn't good over the last six games or so.
-- Playing Buffalo four years in a row in the quarterfinals is "crazy."
-- Buffalo is "talented, physical, athletic."
-- UB guard Dayaisha Fair is "one of the most dynamic scorers in the country" (25 points a game, 36 against KSU last year in quarterfinals).
-- Buffalo center Summer Hemphill is playing after missing most of the last two seasons with an injury. She was a preseason all-MAC pick and "can be a difference maker."
-- If KSU's shooting is on and the defense holds, "we have as good a chance as anybody winning the tournament."

Kent State beat Buffalo 72-66 in last year's quarterfinals before COVID-19 canceled the season. Two weeks ago, the Flashes beat UB 65-62 in Kent. It ought to be a good game.

In other matchups, No. 2 Central Michigan and No. 7 split regular season games. So did Ohio and Ball State. Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan played just once. BG won 71-64 at home way back in December.

There will be a handful of fans invited by players and coaches at the semifinals. Some 6,000 tickets will be sold for Friday's semifinals and Saturday's finals.

All that plus team statistics, links to more statistics, the tournament bracket and tournament information is at https://wbbFlashes.com.
