How many AAC were ranked at the end of last season? 4?. The ACC had 1. What about the Pac 12?

Top of the AAC can compete with anybody year in year out.

Was able to catch a bit of the game. GT was trying to keep it close but it was nice to see UCF answer with a score everytime Tech scored. Looked like they had it in the bag so I drove home, didn't realize they really hammered them towards the end. Great showing for the AAC. Wish GT was ranked after killing FSU though

Had ponies won their bowl game it would have been 5. We finished ranked ahead of the ACC in the conference in the rankings, with Clemson pulling them up and UConn weighing us down.

Piling up stats is what UCF is good at. Who runs a hurry up offense up 21 with four minutes to go in a game? I don't know. Strange team. They actually tried to score on the last play of the game up 28 with like 2 seconds left in the game. Kind of creepy.

I don't know what game you were watching but Ga Tech pulled to within in 7 at the start of the 4th and were only up 14 until they scored with 5:30 to go and UCF huddled every play after that and only ran a play with time on the clock once, so dubious comments.

I doubt the Memphis coaching staff would exhibit such poor sportsmanship, but if they did I would condemn it.

Nevertheless, congrats to UCF for the win. It elevates the AAC's profile. 04-cheers

To be fair, when we had the ball at the end of the game, we were trying to get meaningful reps for our:

3rd team QB
4th and 5th team RBs
Our 3rd and 4th Team Line
I didn’t notice who was at WR at the time.

Most of the above are true freshman, who we may be calling on in this year of uncertainty.

I would argue that UCF needs to do this against non-conference opponents to show that the ranking is not a fluke *cough OkieState cough*

lol oh boy. If UCF wanted to score on the last drive we would have. It wasn’t like there were starters still in.

The people who complain about teams getting reps for their backups in games almost certainly never actually played the game and then get pissy when the completely untested backups come in and are overwhelmed by seeing action for the first time under live conditions.

Heupel did exactly what he should have done to prepare those kids for the prospect of playing later this season

FWIW, this is what an Atlanta Journal Constitution's sportswriter thinks of UCF: "Saturday's home opener against Central Florida painted a picture that said, against the elite of college football, the Jackets still have more climbing to do". Kudos to UCF.

UCF lost 3 games by single digits last season, and in those game Gabriel had TO's that were the main contributor to the losses. Generally about the only way to beat UCF is to win the TO margin, and for the other team to go long time consuming drives and score enough TDs off of those drives.

I said the same thing last year about UCF and the year before. UCF does the same thing Jimmy Johnson did at Miami. They try to run up the score. Who runs a hurry up offense up 21 with the ball and less than three minutes to play and then tries to score on the last play of the game up 28?

Name one other team in this conference that does that.
