RE: When will the MAC play?
"Rates of suicide and contemplating suicide up due to lockdown. "

So let's kill another 200,000?

According to your president, if he hadn't locked down, we'd have 1MM to 2MM deaths by now.

Yes, I'd like you to post the number of suicides due to lockdown and compare it to number of deaths from COVID-19. I won't even ask you to post the number of people infected, the economic impact to treat them, and the long-term economic and physical damage done by the after-effects of infection.

Thanks.

Zero.

For 18-29 year olds there have been 798 deaths from COVID since 02/01/20 out of 36 946 total deaths in that age group. COVID killed less than the flu , 997 deaths, in that same age group, same time frame.

https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provisional-CO...-hcku/data

Lol, that's 997 pneumonia deaths....100 people died of the flu (Influenza) in that time frame. The source is your own chart, that you didn't read correctly.

Also, 1 player has died.

Lol, 997 pneumonia deaths, still more than than COVID. And some of the deaths are attributable, lol.
Lol, don't you realize that COVID is not that dangerous for the 18-29 age bracket, lol.

Some people are prone to panic, and you're one of them, obviously....lol.

I'm not saying pneumonia isn't more dangerous than COVID. I also didn't say we should shut everything down. Or that all kids 18-29 are at risk.

I am however saying you didn't read your own chart correctly, because the 997 number also includes COVID deaths. And that put a false view of information out.

How many other people did these kids infect?

I will let you in on a secret. If you wash hands, don't touch face, clean surfaces, sanitize, social distance and wear a mask you will be fine. If you have kids at college. Take extra precautions when they are home.

I will let you in on a fact. If you have lineman hugging each other for three hours while sweating, panting and spitting in each other's faces, week after week, many are likely to get a virus that may not kill them, but is known to cause long-term heart scarring, lung problems, kidney damage, loss of smell and taste, balance issues, hair loss, neurological damage and other problems.

Oh, wait, never mind, Judge Jeannie said it's all a hoax. Make America Low-Information Again.

And please mention the psychological and economic
damage done. Rates of suicide and contemplating suicide up due to lockdown. It's doubled normal rates among youth populations. I'll post the studies if you
like. Easy enough to look up.

At end of fall season, we will see. MAC schools will suffer greatly from this. When top recruits leave for southern states, don't cry. The China virus is contagious but if you follow proper guidelines, healthy people will be fine, obese people, old people and immune compromised people need to take additional steps

I hate when adults tell other adults how to act. We have civil liberties. People can stay in their house for rest of life if they want. I have been watching my in laws go down quickly. My father in law has dementia. He used to be physically fit riding bike , teaching water aerobics at 83, now he gets tired walking 50 feet and his dementia is getting worse. My mother in law fell down stairs first time out of house going to see grandsons new home. They both were very active. Now both are aging quickly. Shutting down everything has ramifications. We are punishing healthy people for politics. So I will be dealing with a distraught wife sooner rather than later. Having lost both parents, does not feel good.

"I hate when adults tell other adults how to act."

I tooooootally agree. We should be allowed to rape, rob and murder whoever we want. And drive without speed limits while drinking beer. And not hire people because they are black or women or gay or handicapped.

I swear.

And, I want to be able to infect others by not wearing a mask, and then demand free healthcare, medicine, ventilators and hospital beds, while infecting healthcare workers, because I hate Socialism. And COVID-19 is fake. Young people can whip its ass and build immunity. Laura Ingraham says so.

"We are punishing healthy people for politics."

Fer sure! We should allow people to pollute the air so badly you can barely see three feet in front of you because, American jobs. We should allow restaurants to operate with no health department regulations because, Americans jobs. And we should allow the preventable spread of an airborne virus that kills and injures humans because I wanna go to bars and restaurants and bowlin'.

Why do we let adults tell other adults how to act, unless it's not be gay?

Make America Smartly Again!

Per Pete Thamel, MAC presidents are voting on Friday whether to play this fall and are expected to play a six game schedule.

I wonder if knowing they won't be able to cover all the scholarships that are going to be extended is playing a big part in this.

Won't the rosters be close to 100+ players next year if the scholarships are extended if they don't play?

Is there any post season after the 6 games, or just crowning a conference champ based on some point formula?

CDC recently updated estimated infection fatality rates for COVID. Here are the updated survival rates by age group:

0-19: 99.997%
20-49: 99.98%
50-69: 99.5%
70+: 94.6%

https://cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hc...arios.html

Massive overreaction to inflated threat. This does not even discount the % for you being healthy. If you are healthy, your % will drop. Believe what you want and follow moronic leaders like Pritzker and his clueless staff.

I would imagine there will be a conference championship game since that's what the other conferences are doing.

Someone just posted on the MAC page that they heard NIU would be out if the conference was generally in. That would suck/piss me off. Go with the major football flow for many reasons including optics, you can always bail at any time in an I-told-you-so manner if things go south.

I seriously doubt that would happen. If it does, there will be a mass exodus out the NIU football program. Then, you might as well shut down the program.

This would not surprise me. STF was a main driver of the cancel the season move. Could you imagine if all the conferences come back and NIU is literally the only team not playing? Wow.

RE: When will the MAC play?
Even if we could do all the things necessary to play ball safely with a minimum threat to spreading COVID. This one is gonna come down to money. None of the MAC schools are big time programs with massive budgets funded by giant fanbases and licensing deals. We still lose out on those program funding out of conference and bowl games. I believe ESPN did a study of all the programs football budgets in relation to spending and revenue, we were barely profitable in that 2018 study.

I'd love a season and would even risk going. By how we gonna pay for it?
