When will the MAC play?
I figured I'd start the thread since this is going to be a roller coaster over the next few days as MAC football teams start petitioning to start.

I hope it catches on. It would be absurd if the MAC were the only FBS conference to not play.

When will the MAC play?
I predict that this the MAC will play all weeknight games beginning next month. ESPN will graciously allow each team to play one Saturday home game, but it will rain on NIU’s home Saturday game.

Rumbles are that the Mountain West is trying to figure out a way to play this Fall.

When will the MAC play?
MAC football players, including NIU, are tweeting they want to play. Keep on mind, if they don't play this fall there are no bowl games, which would be demoralizing for MAC teams. Don't underestimate the social media effect and the associated negative publicity on the MAC. (The B10 felt this and we know what happened.)

It’s hard not playing when the NFL is at full throttle and conferences are playing. Play or players will find a new home.

I'd be surprised if there were postseason games this season outside of the CFP and maybe the former BCS bowls. All the other bowl games won't make any money if there are no fans in the stands and the local communities/businesses that support the games probably have little money or are closed for business/operating at reduced capacity.

RE: When will the MAC play?
I supported the move to spring given what we knew at the time, but now that everyone else is playing this fall the MAC will look ridiculous if it is the only FBS conference that doesn't. I would think that would hurt recruiting too.

You wonder why the MAC is not going to play football. Follow the money.

Maryland athletic director Damon Evans says:
"Each institution in the Big Ten will be responsible for paying for all of its daily COVID-19 tests required. I estimated it will cost each school around $700,000 to $1 million."

It sounds as if vaccines will be ready sometime between November and January. I Like the BIG10’s idea to wait until January and play indoors.

Our President is looking just as stupid as our Governor for pushing the no play agenda. Same with the online school stupidity. 396 deaths for people under 25 in 9 months. This does not even weed out people in this age group with other conditions that were present. Once would be taken out the risk is pretty much non existent for healthy people in this age group. I have sympathy to anyone inflicted or lost a loved one, but to paint the virus as deadly to this age group is just not correct.

We’ve brought this up here before, but it’s not a “die or live” scenario. They are finding scaring in the lungs of a symptomatic people. Doctors are now describing its effects as - harder on the body then the symptoms. So always saying “young healthy people aren’t affected” is somewhat true. But mostly it means they’re strong enough to not have symptoms. Doesn’t necessarily mean the virus won’t do some damage to certain parts of their body.

Which is perfect for the greedy NCAA. “See they’re fine right now”. Then when the kids have graduated and left any COVID lasting effects are their own problem.

There's that logic, reason and data again. Listen bud. It ends where my uneducated opinion/guesstimation starts.

Do I work in healthcare or sciences? No. But listen, I've lived in the world and I get it. I read a meme that said it's a farce. It's more colorful and shiny than your facts.

Regardless of the medical risks if infected, fact is is that the student athletes are as safe/isolated during practice or on game day as they would be with their chosen replacement activity Going to a party instead of traveling to a game, hanging with buddies, driving home and doing whatever puts them at equal risk of contracting or spreading.

RE: When will the MAC play?
My total uneducated hunch is that the MAC presidents won't pivot back in this Saturday's meeting like the B1G ones did.

That said, I wonder if it'll be an everyone-or-nobody plays thing, or if a few MAC schools will elect to sit out, if it came to that. Obviously your Prez was really adamant about not playing.

I'm not sure about WMU's new Prez either, he watches budgets like a hawk.

If the kids want to play I’m all for it. But it would be nice if(and maybe they have, idk) the NCAA had a neutral third party give a lecture or presentation with all the available information on covid. Then let them decide.

It’s easy as fans to say go play for our amusement when we have no skin in the game.
