I filled in on the board in my new neighborhood when they had a mid-year vacancy. This makes my third board, and this neighborhood is by far the most toxic. Some ladies in the neighborhood founded the neighborhood page before the HOA existed, and it’s just terrible. Anything posted there turns into a giant fight with people taking sides (usually along racial lines). We had to open a new page just for HOA business, because the people in charge of the existing page wouldn’t let a board member vet new members. Both owners of the original page have refused to serve on the board multiple times, of course.

I wonder how many people in here have served on HOAs...

My first stint I started a message board. I had a guy around the corner start a thread and complain. I tried to handle it politely but after a few comments I went to his house. I was told he was in Hawaii. I went back and replied who the hell goes to Hawaii and gets on the neighborhood message board and complains. He apologized.

I bet. Ours is a restricted PUD, so the HOA is major and takes a whole lot of people donating their free time. The one thing that’s harder than finding people who want to be on the board is finding people you actually want on the board.

Indoor events is a completely different animal then an outdoor event. No where for the virus to go and they would probably have to sanitize after every game if there were fans. I assume that would be expensive.
