I still have the clot in my lung and can still feel it but it is improving. They seem convinced it will dissolve in the days ahead with all the blood thinner they have pumped me with.
I am on a really good oral blood thinner now and have meds for this month but am still working out how to afford them after the first month (any suggestions would be welcome, high quality blood thinners are incredibly expensive without insurance). I will have to continue to take them for at least 3-4 months, maybe longer. I have to follow up with the specialist next week to see if he found any cause or how I will proceed with the meds.
I'm on Eliquis right now which is a really good thinner, but I may not be able to afford it after this first month and may have to seek other alternatives.
Mostly just thanks for the prayers and support guys, it means a lot. This was a BIG shock for me and PE's are very deadly. Even the specialist seemed puzzled as to why I got it, I really don't have any usual precursors or anything. I'm still under 50 so I'm not quite ready to put down my cross and go home. I would like to have more time to share the Word and support others, Lord willing. Perhaps I will and this is an early detection and blessing in disguise to give me more time. Whatever happens, His will (not mine) be done. I'm gonna keep the Faith and finish the race no matter what.
Thanks again from the bottom of my heart.
I keep seeing TV ads for some program on late night TV. Don't remember the name. Some like "prescription RX." Its an app that helps get you lower prices on drugs. The ad shows a woman turning away after hearing its $65, then the pharmacists says, do you have "XXX?" She gets it on her phone and walks out with the prescription for $8.70.
Don't know how well it works, but its worth checking into.

I don't know how in the world I got this, it seemed to come out of nowhere for no reason.
Its pretty serious but they think I can recover. They are checking my heart and legs to make sure its a lone clot.
Prayers Eric!

Good Rx
Even with Good Rx Eliquis is running $470/$499.
But often times the manufacturer will offer a program and it just so happens that's the case here...
Quote:Manufacturer Coupon
Visit Manufacturer Site
Many manufacturers offer programs that will reduce your out-of-pocket costs for this prescription. These programs are free but may have some rules or restrictions, so you’ll want to review carefully. When you’re ready to use this coupon, simply present the coupon to your pharmacist with a valid prescription for your medication.
Program Name: Eliquis Co-Pay Card
Provider: Bristol-Myers Squibb
Phone Number: 1-855-354-7847
Website: https://www.eliquis.bmscustomerconnect.c...e=reqcopay
How do I get the discount? Request or activate a card online.
How much can I save? Your co-pay can be reduced to $10 per fill, subject to a $3800 maximum benefit per year.
Do I need insurance? Yes. The card is for commercially insured patients only.
Number of uses: Up to 24 uses.
Expiration: 12/31/21
Other notes: This co-pay card only applies on fills of up to 60 tablets.
As you can see, it says you have to have insurance. I'm not sure if that's your case or not, Eric. Based on a comment you made it seems like you might not have insurance.
Something to think about, many churches have funds set aside specifically to help in these types of situations. You just have to ask.

RE: Asking for some support
These are heart warming responses guys, thanks you so very much.
I'm currently doing ok, I can still feel the clot in there at certain times of the day or if I move around too much. I tried to take two separate 10-15 minutes walks yesterday, the first one felt great the other not so much. I got short of breath on the second and my hear rate jumped up over 110. So I think I will just take one 10 minute walk and then take it easy the rest of the day. The one I got short of breath on was after my first real dinner in several days, so that may have played a role.
I'm taking the blood thinners on schedule every day and keeping up my aspirin and other natural supplements I take so God willing things will improve given a little more time. Right now I'm mostly concerned that this could be a life long issue, I still don't know much yet (hopefully its just a temporary situation). I'll see the specialist later this week and maybe he will know more or have more info for me.
Thanks again for all the comments and prayers.

Prayers for a full and speedy recovery, Eric. And also that you're able to find an amenable solution to your medication cost issue.

Eric, I wish you a speedy recovery. I've been on Eliquis for 3 years for congestive heart failure and afib. I seem to have tolerated it well. I hope the same for you.

Asking for some support
Eric, if you’re currently uninsured, but need to be to catch a break on the meds, check into different associations you may eligible for.
We are USAA members for car loans, car ins. Etc.
They offer 1,2 or 3 month temporary or “bridge” plans for those between jobs, temp laid off whatever the situation.
Others like Trade Orgs, AARP (you may not be old enough yet?) can offer these plans now too thanks to a law passed a year or two ago.
They are relatively cheap, maybe 150-200 month, but do offer some coverage and you might make up that difference in the drug costs alone.
Good luck, looking forward to hearing of your full and speedy recovery.
