That’s an interesting question, and I admit I don’t know the answer.

We’ve certainly had “1%” presidents before. Some enjoyed the lifestyle of Trump-like wealth even though the taxable “net worth” was in the name of their spouse (LBJ) or their parents (JFK). Others lived in the pre-income tax era (Washington and Lincoln, just to name 2). For all of those presidents, it’s tough to see how their net worth increased while in office, but who really knows.

Hard to say.

Let's just say being President in this age helps your wallet especially if you're last name is Clinton.

I'll stick with Post WW2 presidents

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/201.../39011559/

Truman - Not rich at all prior to or when he left office. His financial situation was why the Presidential Pension Plan was passed

Ike - Modestly wealthy but nothing abnormal for a well-paid General, President, and College President

JFK - Uber wealthy family before and after office

LBJ - Family was broke but left the office uber wealthy. Became wealthy as a career politician in Texas after marrying into money. Leveraged his status to get his wife into Broadcasting Ownership of a radio station which laid the foundation of a successful Broadcasting company. An "Honest grafter" not afraid to use Texas and Federal connections to enrich his own business. Politics helped make his business endeavors very profitable and him uber wealthy.

Nixon - no where near as wealthy as LBJ, less than 20% of LBJ's net worth. However his post office net value wa 650% higher than his previous office net worth.

Ford - Moderately wealthy. Used his stature post office to serve on boards and other endeavors such as books. 400% net worh increase post presidency.

Carter - Moderately wealthy. Successful farmer prior to office. Left White House in debt due to farm not having full attention. Like Ford used stature post office to gain/maintain wealth but not uber wealthy. 200% post presidency net worth increase.

Reagan - Moderately wealthy from acting care. Being president did help his net worth but no where near as much as others - 45%

HW Bush - Bush family was traditionally wealthy like the Kennedys. Post presidency net worth increase was 475%

Clinton - 6150% net worth increase from pre presidency to November 2016. No wonder Hilary was pissed. Clinton Foundation also shut down after Hilary lost. Summary: LBJ would tell these guys to not be so obvious.

Obama - The white house was very kind to them too. 1.3M net worth in 2008. 135M present net worth per the NYT. Others have a more modest 40M

They seem to get their mass increase due to their popularity and celebrity with book deals, speaking engagements and the Big netlfix deal

RE: Mitt has to go NOW
Mitt is right. End this nonsense.

Quote:Hochstein is the only witness called by the committee known to have discussed Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, with Biden during his vice presidency. Biden is now the Democratic presidential nominee, and his son's ties to Burisma have been at the center of the committee's monthslong probe.

Hochstein has told associates that he never changed U.S. policy because of Burisma and was never asked to do so and that Burisma never factored into any policy decisions around energy or Biden's advocacy for a new Ukrainian prosecutor general.

In fact, according to a former Obama administration official, Hochstein plans to testify that the Obama administration sought to punish Burisma rather than protect it.

Hochstein met with Ukrainian officials in 2015 to urge them to cooperate in the prosecution of Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky as the Obama administration sought to clamp down on corruption rampant among Ukrainian oligarchs. That's the same year Trump and other Republicans have alleged Biden was trying to help Burisma.
Former State Department official who cast doubt on Burisma claims to testify in GOP probe

There simply is no there there.

Burisma...Burisma...Burisma...

Many prominent Republicans as well. Can you honestly remember a time when so many Republicans endorsed the Democratic candidate? I can't.

Which ELECTED republicans are backing Biden? James Comey aint no republican.

You do realize that there are several democratic mayors in MN alone that are supporting Trump? There are democratic sheriffs who are switching parties.

See the difference?

Mitt only has power if people listen to him...and nobody really is.
