Honestly, It'd be a health hazard to play football out west right now with all of the smoke from the wild fires, let alone Covid.

There is absolutely no pressure on the PAC 12. Jon Wilner like many others in the media is simply trying to stoke some fires that really isn't needed at the moment.

The PAC 12 won’t play. Left leaning state governments in most of those states will keep it from getting off the ground.

Frankly, there aren't enough people on the West Coast who will care.

The pressure to play will exist, but will be minimal.

Uh, the B1G isn't starting until late Oct., so the Pac 12 can wait until then, as well. You think the fires will still be burning then?

Ok, I admit that was really messed up on my part. It wasn't intended to be that way but it was messed up. 04-bolt

Newsome has been surprisingly flexible in his response to COVID. He's given the counties a lot of leeway in deciding their own plans. Makes sense in a state where half the counties have more land than Delaware and 9 counties have over 1 million people.

I heard he was concerned about a "red wave" in November if he cracked down too hard statewide, especially in the Central Valley and Inland Empire.

The dead feel no pressure.

Dang that was hard to read! But if there is no push by the PAC as a conference this matter is dead. And any bureaucratic delay at this point will make it impossible to play. They have to recall the athletes, get ready, set schedules, etc. and the Big 10 has pulled it together at the last possible minute, I just don't see the PAC pulling this out when there is no momentum in the Conference office to get there.

So we can have football but no churches? (Yes, I know there is more to the story on both sides...)

Watching a Trump press conference right now and he is urging the PAC 12 to get to playing telling them they still have time. We'll see.

RE: And now the pressure mounts on the Pac-12
College football does not have the same cultural significance in much of Pac 12 country the way it does in other parts of the nation. There is not the same push from the general public to restore play. Not to mention their player revolt.
