I suspect it will get worse for them. People are starved for sports and many watched out of morbid curiosity. They will lose more next game.

No way... just like when the Kap thing went down these will die down .... by the end of September there will only be a few still virtue signaling. And Tv won’t show any of it.

Then the viewers will build ....

ESPN isn't going to let it die down.

They make it a point to show how many players kneel down for the anthem before they even show highlight one from the game.

They now treat their social justice agenda like it's part of the game.

It’s not a boycotted. People are turning off because the product is over produced crap. It’s like they merged the NBA and WWE and can’t figure out why people that those advertisers desperately want to reach are tuning out. The political and SJW silliness is just icing on the cake.

It will only get worse. If the NFL is depending on those it’s supporting with its social justice madness to keep it relevant, it’s sadly mistaken. The “victims” the NFL is giving everything up to support would just as soon Burn NFL stadiums, Loot team facilities and Murder anyone that tries to stop them.

As my Grandfather used to say, “they done s hit in their nest”

Go Woke Get Broke

I am telling you guys, this will die down.....

ESPN talking about it every night is one thing, and they will not stop doing that. But the production and what they air during the actual games will die down quickly.

We have Sunday Ticket at my local establishment where we watch these games, and almost none of them (1PM and 4PM games) even showed the National Anthem (either version). Commentators went there a little bit but it wasn't crazy..

That said, there was a much bigger deal made of it on the the Sunday night and Monday games where there were national audiences.

If the ratings continue to stay down and or drop further, you will see less and less coverage of that stuff........... guaranteed. NBA is setting the bar for what eyes on the TV will endure. Their ratings suck and they are doubling down on protest .... The NFL will not do that - waaaaay too much money at stake for them.

I don’t know if boycott is the right term here. I think people have just lost interest. I know I have. We are on vacation and had dinner in a sports bar Sunday night because it was the most convenient place to grab a bite. There was hardly anyone in there. The Cowboy and Rams were playing. I’m usually glued to the game. I didn’t watch any of it. If people were boycotting, I don’t think the NFL would be that concerned. If people walk away because they have genuinely lost interest, that should be a serious concern for the NFL brass. It’s hard to get people back when just don’t care anymore.

I dont think this is a boycott. Its just people saying no thanks to a product that has moved in the wrong direction. Its like when Wendys got rid of their original burger and fries and produced the crap they have now....no thanks

Thats fair. I just remember the dip in 17 early and by the time it got cold, the numbers were back.

I will say the lack of preaeason showed in the tackling. Oooofff

abandon your base.....it quickly becomes a 'pickle' down the road...

personally, it's like visiting with family or friends....cell phones are off limits at the table or gathering during conversation...

f2f socialization has become a lost art.........not in muh world....

If you do something to make you target audience lose interest, that's worse than pissing them off for a while. Pissed people are passionate about the thing that pisses them off. Disinterested people learn quickly they can live without it and save some money too. That's a lot worse than a temporary boycott.

It comes down to 3 basic human emotions:

Love
Hate
Indifference

Indifference by far is the worst - for those seeking attention.

It's not just Monday Night Football. NFL ratings in general have tanked since they peaked in 2015. It looked like 2019 was a reversal of the trend, but that reversal may have been just temporary.

Could be a lot of people like myself though. I could care less about the SJW crap, but our habits have changed a lot over the course of rona2020. Before I would go meet some friends and watch Titans at a sports bar but with all of the restrictions in place that's not really fun. And if I'm at the house I just have better things to be doing than sitting in front of the TV for 3 hours
