the 35% donks can lick it, suck it, and hockey puck it...

Because I'm not worried about donks, but about older reps who might empathize with Biden... thinking of my parents who are big Trump supporters.

Probably doesn't change my parents... they are highly educated and informed... but many people of all ages are not. It wouldn't make someone vote for Biden, but it may keep someone from voting.

Not that I don't want him to pounce.... I want him to clearly make note of it.... but that can be done through things like pauses and looking down and quiet shakes of the head and other subtle reactions... and then let 'his people' make jokes about it later. I don't want him to come across as cruel to a person whom some Republicans might empathize with.... who then might simply stay home on election day.

Heck, if there are timed responses and Joe goes off the reservation and loses the script, I might even want Trump to say... No, go ahead Joe and finish... somewhat, but not overtly condescendingly.

I don't know about your neck of the woods, Biden is already attempting to get the sympathy vote. I've seen the commercials where it talks about being sworn into office as soon as his wife passed in a hospital or his son dying of cancer... That was the big play before it led into his plea for Obamacare to be reinstated under him.

It's already there.

Oh of course. I think most older people are at least somewhat numb to the reality of death though. The far greater fear for most of them is still living, but forgetting about life.

Yes, perhaps its just my neck of the woods in that my father has symptoms and I'm helping care for him while working remotely so I'm acutely in touch with that community of support in a highly Republican part of town... but I mostly hear the spouses and families of people with the illness and their frustration with the way some people treat their loved ones.

I strongly suspect it will happen at some point and I want Trump to react to it. I don't want him to ignore it. I just don't want him to be the guy that many family members of such people hate. The criminal here is Jill and the DNC, not Joe (in terms of him running for office at all)

I'd be more like... You're right Joe... as we get older it is often an issue that we lose those close to us at an increasing rate... he might even say that's part of why he married younger women, so while the relationships weren't easy and he had greater risk of losing them as a spouse, he had less risk of losing them to death... That wouldn't be donald to show that vulnerability, but he could... perhaps in a quiet interview...

I just don't want him to laugh, snicker or mimic him on the debate stage. He can be just as effective by saying something like... 'Well, I'm not really sure what Joe's answer to that question really was, but here is mine.'

Just my opinion... yours or others may vary. He will likely have opportunities to do both.

here's the thing though.... Democrats aren't voting for Biden. He's never gotten more than about 2% of their support prior to this campaign, and he's 'evolved' on almost every issue which means he is running on someone else's actual beliefs, not his.

I don't suspect we'll see that on the debate stage..

I'm sure in a rally somewhere down the line there'll be a comment about Joe not being able to complete a sentence without help.. It'll be a shot like that. I don't think DJT will make off the cuff health prognosis like it was done to him.

If I was Trump I'd make a note card with all of Biden's promises vs what he did in his time in office and when I could throw those in during the debate I would to see the reaction.

Although I'm voting for him. Trump, in my opinion, is seriously lacking in the likeability category. He needs to take these debates seriously and try to use them to improve this very important deficit. I fear the vast majority of the people have already made up their minds. Of the few left that haven't Trump needs these votes in order to have any chance to win. In my opinion, at least for now, Joe Biden has the advantage.

Actually, I suspect Trump is very likable. His issue is a press that has done 97% negative stories on him for 4 years straight. The fact he may still win an election despite that kind of headwind says he is about as likable as one could get.

I can't argue that point based on my limited sample size....

however, I trust my former midwestern brethren to step out and make a stand....regardless of locale, it runs through our veins....

I'm easily more concerned with mailers....

today, someone told me they rec'd a mailer about 'how to' vote absentee in the 'sip.....it's a waste of time here, but imagine what they're doing in swing states....

hell, I'm even going to 'don' a mask for the first time, nov. 3. .. 03-wink

the counter movement vs. pandering is playing out across the board...

I'm more interested in how state and local's play out.....
