RE: Tyler Injured
The app st qb who beat UAB last year was not a run pass option qb .
The qb from Miami had a lot of hype in the pre game ,,I didnt see much from him except miss tackle from one UAB defender :(

True, but the App State QB grew up about 20 minutes from UAB. Appy signed him the same year we signed TJIII. He wasn't highly rated or recruited and he's better than anybody we have except maybe Lucero, who will have to do a lot of winning to get to Zach's level. I think our talent evaluation and development has been pretty suspect at QB.

I agree. He looks very good. I watched that Hoover game too and came away impressed.

Lucero is very poised for a Frosh. However, we really haven’t seen him scramble or have designed runs, so would like to see how he manages that

I was not that impressed with Miami’s QB, but they could have had a vanilla game plan for us.

King didn't look that accurate on his throws but there were some drops as well. Athletically I saw a lot more than just one missed tackle. UAB would've had 5 sacks if Miami had their QB from last year or any other QB we'll face this season.

It'll be more difficult for Lucero as USA has 2 weeks to study film and prepare. I suspect we'll employ an intensive run strategy and hit them over the top when possible. But, I suspect, USA is thinking the same way. The OL is gonna be the key.

I believe that was his only high school varsity start. He was very impressive that night.

Seriously? I thought he started every game of his senior year at IMG. Of course, being honest, if he had been good enough to do that he wouldn’t be on a G5 roster.

AD bio has him taking over the starting job at IMG halfway thru his senior year which included that Hoover game. Doesn’t mention any other games, just last half of the season.

He was the backup most of the year to a dual threat QB that signed with App St. he played mostly mop-up duty until the Hoover game which he started and went something like 12-20 for 250 yards.

So Lucero didn't even start a large part of his senior year?? How was he on the recruiting radar?

RE: Tyler Injured
So, that IMG team was STACKED, even by IMG standards.

They ran a read option attack and the starter was much more athletic then Lucero. Thats why he was the starter. Both had strong arms. The starter (I cant remember his name sorry) signed with App st over several power five offers. He wasnt a scrub.

That team had the best offensive lineman in the country (he was like 6'8 350 and signed with bama. All five lineman on that team signed power 5 scholarships. Going off memory they signed with Bama, Auburn, LSU, FSU and Tennessee.

Their RB was the best RB in the country and signed with bama. His backup was a top 100 recruit and signed with Penn St.
Their receivers signed with like Oregon Ole Miss & Wisconsin.

They were STACKED. So Lucero would come in games, stand in clean pockets and show off the arm. Coaches all over were watching IMG tape and so he got seen by plenty of recruiters.

It’s a secondary (9-12) boarding school that proudly states it specializes in student-athletes. I assume boarding automatically means private, but have no idea off the top of my head.

With payments deferred for those truly gifted athletes that might someday sign with IMG. Once signed the debt is forgiven (written in theoretical blue font)
