Well since US visitors are required to quarantine for 14 days upon entering the Bahamas the original site wasn't going to work.

I would have thought Memphis would be the best place, being in the center.

South Dakota- what an interestingly unappealing choice.
Did tournament organizers put a nonrefundable deposit down?

The Sanford Pentagon has a capacity of 3,250.
Heck, the Elma Roane Fieldhouse has a capacity of 2,565.

It will be a minor miracle if that tournament gets played no matter where it is.

Not saying it’s Bahamas nice. Just saying it’s not Flint, Michigan.

I believe the late golfer, Payne Stewart, took that non-stop route.
Also, Sturgis apparently accounted for over 250K positive tests. That's in SD too.

Fine by me. Sioux Falls is only 3 hours west, so I can make a game or two. Haven't seen the Tigers play since the 2019 AAC tourney. I wish Memphis would get a series going with some upper Midwest teams--Iowa, ISU, Minn, Wisc, etc.
Btw I went to a Memphis-Wichita game in Sioux Falls a few years back. That arena is really cramped, plus we were blown out, and it was full of Wichita fans.

Of course it will get played. The players and staff will be tested, take charter flights, stay in the same hotels, play each other, and live in a bubble for a week. Only 10 states have a lower death rate from covid than South Dakota. It is much easier to control a roster and staff of 20 than it is a roster and staff of 70. The fans will have to socially distance and act responsibly and won't be bossed around like they are little children.
There are quite a few pluses to having the tournament there. People might even go to the tournament so they can get haircuts and not have to worry about millennial and student white trash burning down their hotels, destroying their cars, harassing them if they decide to take a walk around town, or yelling at them at the top of their lungs when they are trying to enjoy a meal at a restaurant. Black fans will be able to avoid the wonderful sensation of being called Uncle Toms or sellouts.
It is always the same group that has the most negative, miserable view.

@Stammers
"North Dakota and South Dakota lead the country in new cases per capita over the last two weeks, ranking first and second respectively, according to Johns Hopkins University researchers.
South Dakota has also posted some of the country’s highest positivity rates for COVID-19 tests in the last week — over 17 percent — an indication that there are more infections than tests are catching."
