Way different from my nephew, who also majored in Art History. His plan was to use his AH degree to find a job in a museum. Currently working as a paralegal after a few years at Starbucks, and still paying off his student loans.
I entered Rice as a pre-med, and was told told I could major in anything and get in my pre-med requirements as electives. Senior pre-med down the hall was majoring in Philosophy.
Point is, if your plan is to NOT earn your living in Art History or philosophy, fine. Follow your plan.
If your plan is to earn your living as an Art Historian or philosopher, good luck with that. Way too many are fooled by the rhetoric that the way to a better life is a college degree - any degree. They let the major become the plan.
