Only spent one year at Central Florida before the 13-0 season, an average 6-7. That wouldn't have been enough for me to hire him if I was hiring for a P5 school

He was also the QB of Nebraska's last national championship team. He was too good of a hire not to take.

He's a hometown boy that won our last natty and tied to Tom Osborne. When Tom Osborne says to jump, the state asks how high. I really wasn't happy with the hire either, I would have rather brought in a PJ Fleck or someone that has no connection to the past. Unfortunately, most fans disagree. You say "maybe it's time to start a new era" and they get visions of Bill Callahan and Steve Pederson. We're a prisoner of our own tradition.

I thought he was going to be a great coach and immediately turn the program around. I can see your point about starting a new era and going in a new direction.

With St. Johns the whispers are that after retiring Louie Carnesecca has meddled in St John affairs so that nobody after him would be able to shadow his legacy. Not saying that Osbourne is doing that because I don't know any details about the Cornhusker program but maybe he still dabbles in the program too much and Frost since he got the job partly from Osbourne has to listen.

This is a strange year so you can't be overly critical.

Sadly, that's not uncommon. At Georgetown, we've been hiring sons or players of Coach Thompson as HC for the past 20 years. Not much to show for it.

TCU beat Okie State.

BYU 17
Coastal Carolina 22 final

BYU was the favorites going in.

Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina are still in the hunt for a big bowl game while San Jose State with an outside chance.

That is a final as Oregon lost. Big 12 and PAC 12 eliminated, and Ohio State is iffy.

Ohio State 52, Michigan State 12. Nothing Ohio State did yesterday hurt Ohio State's chances with the possible exception that none of the other top CFP teams lost.

If the Michigan game is canceled for covid. Ohio State does not have the body of work to be considered in the playoffs.
