South Alabama has a sweet new on campus stadium...
Looks like the Jags have invested significantly in their program.

I still dream of having 45k on campus.

only holds 25k though.

I want something like Louisville's stadium before all the capacity increases...it held 42k

I agree. We need 40-45k.
South Alabama doesn’t draw flies, but they’re sinking the money into the program.

Does that imply they have more financial support than we do?

It will not fit in that square space.

For one thing, the Larry Finch memorial statue will be at the circle entrance.

Any future stadium will be at the golf course property.

People want to envision a OCS on the main campus, but there's no room.

The dimensions don't fit.

From an article:

The stadium’s estimated cost is $74 million. Funding and debt service on bonded indebtedness incurred to construct the stadium will come from a combination of the athletic department, auxiliary enterprises and public/private funding.

USA recently announced a $2.5 million sponsorship from the Mobile County Commission, which will create the Mobile County Center for Academic Success, located within the stadium’s administration building. Discussions are ongoing with additional sponsors and donors.

Stadium also has a title sponsor. Hancock Whitney Bank.

the blue rectangle would be the new entrance (with a light) and the new location for the statue. that said, the golf course area would be even better if that's possible.

They were playing in a stadium almost 20 years older than the LB and eight miles from campus. It was time for them to do something.

The 2007ish study that was commissioned found like 7 sites that were on or adjacent to the main campus that were viable. Commercial development in the adjacent space will have changed that somewhat, but it is still possible to put a stadium on the main campus.

The golf course or south campus are no better than the liberty bowl.

I agree they could (currently) squeeze it in on the main campus, but there’s not an unlimited amount of main campus left for future growth. No way they give that up for a football stadium.

I don't agree as the South Campus is ours and the stadium would also be ours. plus, the Liberty Bowl is 2.1 miles from campus while South Campus is only 1.1 miles from the south parking lots/athletics office. (which also provides lots of auxiliary parking for games)

Their program is only 10 years old.

That doesn’t change the age of the stadium. Nor the distance.

We would claim the stadium is as good as the program. The fact is USA has decided to blindly invest in their program in hopes those investments will improve the product. We will eventually need to do the same.

I get what you’re saying, but perhaps when they started a program 10 years ago this was the idea all along. Eight miles is a long way from campus.

Our basketball team makes a similar drive to Fed Ex Forum.

True, but FedEx Forum is a state-of-the-art NBA arena with all the bells and whistles. Ladd-Peeples archaic and about to fall over.

I attended the game there last year. I was surprised how clean it was for an older stadium. I wouldn't say it's about to fall over. Much cleaner than Wrigley Field or Legion field.
