Got to love it. Wouldn't be so hard on Campbell if had not left the Rockets the way he did. Not too much love for their AD either.

RE: Iowa State Loses To Louisiana-Lafayette
The announcers from ESPN were falling over one another to praise Campbell. He didn't do squat here; left us high and dry and took the same coaches to Iowa State that didn't get the job done here. It's ironic of sorts that Special Teams for Louisiana killed ISU coached by a former Rocket Special Teams Coordinator Robbie Discher.

Campbell has had opportunities to go to bigger schools than ISU and even to the NFL. However, he has decided to stay put in Ames, IA. I believe that will turn out to be a big mistake.

He has lucked out with a few players that developed way beyond expectations and that enabled ISU to win a few big games. He will not continue with big upsets if he constantly recruits the same guys that MAC schools are after. He can likely stay at ISU, produce teams that win maybe half their games, and collect large paychecks. He will never be regarded as a coach in the same category as Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.

Saban always speaks highly of his days at Toledo and Meyer is proud of what he did at BGSU.

That line says it all on why I lean toward watching Campbell fall on his face. He regards Toledo with little fondness and just as a place where he collected a paycheck until he could get his next gig. The team he has this year is lacking in talent in the trenches. I wasn't impressed with UL-Lafayette, but they laid a licking on ISU after trailing by 7 a couple of times early on.

Saban was at Toledo for one year, turned the program around from a 6-5 team to 9-2 and a co-champion of the MAC (although we were screwed in the CMU game on a sideline catch ruled out of bounds) That cost us the outright championship and a bowl trip when the MAC got 1/year. Saban promotes UT and even went on to congratulate his Toledo 1990 team on the 25th anniversary of their shared championship. Campbell won't ever have to worry about being asked to make congratulatory comments on the anniversary of the championship teams he had at Toledo...

At least Candle has a championship at Toledo - and he seems to genuinely enjoy being at Toledo. He has a lot to prove after last season. Sadly, a couple of the coaches he brought in may never actually coach a Toledo team in a game.

Meyer never finished higher than 3rd in the Mac East.

Being jealous of something or someone is far different than possessing an indifferent attitude towards an individuals future endeavors... I hope MC and family are happy in Ames, Iowa...

Jealous of what? Are people jealous of Saban for leaving after just one year? Don't think so. Saban won a championship in that one year. His teams never came out flat or made bonehead plays that cost us a win and a championship.

Campbell laid an egg in a season when Toledo was given 2 opportunities to win a division championship. They lost both. Both were in the Glass Bowl. And then Campbell announced he was leaving shortly after the final bust game he coached.

That's not jealousy. It's animosity that I feel toward him. He was a coach that has not indicated any fondness for his time at Toledo. As I said, he was an employee that did nothing special at UT. It is likely if he had left the team before the final home game after Thanksgiving in 2015 that the team would have won without him. Just like they did in the bowl game that year against the 24th ranked Temple Owls.

Campbell did get a big win against #18 Arkansas in his final year. That got us some national attention and a ranking - that was subsequently lost when we $&it the bed against a 5-3 NIU team (who lost to BG in the MACC) and a 6-5 WMU team - both on our field.

He has yet to be the head coach of a championship team anywhere. But he is rich. Good for him, but it doesn't make me beholding to him for what he did at UT. BTW - he is 27-26 at Iowa State. That is considered great by their standards in the tough conference they compete within. Not jealous of that either.

Me, I don't really care what Campbell does or doesn't do. For me it's, dudes gone, move on. I'm disappointed if a HC doesn't stay here for at least 5 years. But, I understand jumping for financial freedom. I guess that's the reality of the profession today.

27-26, ISU will get tire of Campbell if he doesn't compete with the big 12 upper echelon teams of the Big 12 year in and out.

Does this mean that Toledo Football 1st is now one of 2 least liked and you're now only 3rd least liked? I'm not sure I follow your calculus but it's apparently important this connection of reputation points to position in life so I'd like to know.
