RE: Big 10 Fall Football
I do think the MAC should play if all the other conferences are playing except us. I thought the SEC, ACC, Big 12, and other G5 conferences would follow suit and actually care about the student-athletes and their well-being. But as we saw, their greed for money, power, and status was more important. So now the Big 10 and PAC-12 don't want to be left behind while the other P5 conferences reap all the power and money with less products to compete against for attention.

While it would be great to be the only FBS conference playing football and have all the ESPN Saturday games to ourselves in the Spring, we would also be at a disadvantage come Fall 2021 season when all our injured players are still recovering and all our non-conference opponents have had ample time for their players to recover. Also, i doubt the NFL draft would move back their timeline only for the MAC. So all our seniors who have graduated and are interested in playing in the NFL would likely opt out of any Spring season.

More college football players will die from head injuries than COVID. Show me one study that says 18-24 year old healthy young adults are at risk. If they cared, football would not be a sport due to ptsd and concussions

If players want to assume all the risk then that is one thing. I would get the student-athletes that are demanding to be allowed to play to sign a waiver that any complications (foreseen and unforeseen) now and in the future from contracting the virus is not the responsibility of the school. If they sign it and want to play then let them play. But good luck with telling NIU students they aren't allowed to attend classes in person but the football team and other athletes are allowed to use their money from student fees to play sports.

This all looks like the classic bait and switch to ensure student enrollment at universities and retention of students and their money. Tell students they are allowed to attend classes in person or a hybrid of in-person and online. Then once you already have them enrolled and paying tell them they are now only allowed to conduct online study.

UCF did the same thing. Paid for this semester's housing, moved my daughter up there, and then the change to all "on-line" classes. She could have stayed home for that, like they did in March April and May when they closed the campus.

If universities had been honest upfront and said we are only doing online course study how many new freshmen would they have lost to another university that would allow in-person study or to a community college? I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of schools decided to say they would allow it simply to secure their enrollment numbers and ensure more paying students.

I don't know about other people but i certainly wouldn't pay $15,000+ in tuition for online study that could be done at a community college or University of Phoenix online for cheaper.

Well that changed fast...

@Brett_McMurphy
Maybe some #MACtion? Momentum growing in MAC to try to play in fall, sources told
@Stadium.1st report by Toledo Blade. There are several hurdles to clear, but hopes are 8-game season culminating with MAC title game Dec. 16 or 17. Unknown if all schools would play, sources said

The other conferences gave great cover for MAC not to play, now they will be alone and have to justify why it's about players and not about money

You want to follow the money? Let's see who is making money from all the needless testing of healthy college students. That is where the real fraud lies. Like other people have said they baited you to come to campus, then go online, then implement massive testing of healthy students. Do not even start on the fact the testing is 10x off on positives, which means you got junk data. Who owns all the testing companies and who gave them their contracts? If we had any active media in this country, they would start to take a look.

The COVID saliva testing was invented and patented by researchers at the U of I. Not only are athletes tested, but all students, faculty, and staff on the Urbana campus must be tested twice weekly. Each of those tests costs money. Guess who's making a lot of money off all this testing? If you guess the researchers and university, you win a free saliva test!

You again. It's not about deaths, it's about the myriad long-term health issues (heart scarring, lung damage, loss of hearing, kidney damage, on and on and on).

Have you read ANY news websites or watched ANY TV news stations or read ANY newspapers during the past month? More and more information is coming out weekly about the dangers to young people.

They have already shut down PSU reporting enlarged heart. Schools are taking the medical disclosures to heart, not releasing them. I truly find it hard to believe there will be no long term effects. Most of uu will likely be long gone if and when true effect are realized on internal organs, namely lungs.

I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but we are a country/world that, among other things, didn't have any clue of health effect of things like agent orange, saccharin, lead paint, asbestos, smoking and the likes. To think a virus they know can enlarge heart and damage lungs could create long term health issues is naive.

We do know about the long term effects of concussions and other injuries on football players, yet we "tolerate" them and players still want to play. There are risks in life, and some people are willing to accept a greater level of them.
