reschedule... if houston vs tulane or houston vs smu is moved (have the same byes week)...houston vs memphis can take the place of the old game

I still think memphis should have been forced to play.

I'm hearing they are discussing the first weekend in December.

RE: Houston Baylor?
I understand the sentiment of those who want to force Memphis to play. However, the reality is that Memphis dropping a game to Houston due to COVID would be disastrous for the conference. If we're going to land someone in the CFP or at least snag the NY6 spot, our top teams need to run up their records. I'd feel the same if the roles were reversed and Houston was the ranked team with players out due to COVID.

I could absolutely care less about the success of other teams in this conference. It’s about my school and nothing else. Sorry but they should have been forced to play.

I don't fault Houston fans for feeling that way. But as someone who isn't a Houston fan, I want what's best for the league. We have different interests due to our allegiances, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Also, Houston gets an extra game out of this against an old rival. So I think even if I was a Houston fan, I would be in favor of this. But again, nothing wrong with feeling the opposite way. Just throwing my opinion out there.

No. 20+ Memphis players violating their team's health and safety protocols in the middle of a pandemic because they want to celebrate beating ******* Ark. St. and subsequently contracting the virus is disastrous for the conference. I'm fine with UH getting a game with Baylor because I'd love to beat them but the Memphis athletes need to be held accountable. I'd feel the same way if the roles were reversed.

RE: Houston Baylor?
Pretty excited for this game. Much better matchup and more intriguing for casual observer than Baylor-LaTech. (And I have nothing personal against LaTech).

I always preferred Baylor OOC schedules to essentially be: FCS, SWC, P5. Glad we are getting the SWC part.

I think Houston likely wins this. This is a year I give deference yo experienced and veteran teams. I think Dana red-shirted a few experienced players with the intent of having them perform on a more seasoned sophomore squad. So that should favor Houston a bit. Baylor lost a ton of starters and while recruiting has been decent, we are under a new coach and haven’t played a game under the current staff. I hope they impress but we will see.

Either way, very excited for this one.

I dont think its right to make Memphis play under these conditions. However, I think they need to be careful Houston doesnt get tooled around on the reschedule (short week or some having to play with no bye-week) as this situation was entirely avoidable and not Houston's fault. If the Memphis game ends up never getting played, a game against Baylor makes for a fun ex-SWC replacement tilt. So--not a total loss if things dont work out. That said, I suspect they will find a reasonable window to reschedule the game.

RE: Houston Baylor?
I'm good with how this works out:
  • We're not losing an opportunity to play
  • We get to renew an old SWC rivalry, haven't played them in 25 years
  • We set up what could be a massive late season game if UH puts it all together.
  • We get a home and home series with Baylor, separate from next week's game.

Get well Memphis.
