Too early to say for sure, but I'm not encouraged if I'm an Aop fan.

Third coach in 3 years. Last year's UNCC opener was a lot closer, imo.

They need to push harder than ever now. This team is expected to be way better on both sides. Key positions though starting tonight, but some odd behavior from veterans

Guys, I was being sarcastic. I was making fun of a certain UNCC fan who keeps beating that drum while his team's best season ever was 7-6 and is 0-3 vs. the team that has "peaked."

Lol, okay maybe I overreact but I think it was sloppy nonetheless. If we want to be a contender for the NY6 and win, you have to expect better

It was very sloppy. We fumbled the ball like 4x including on the 1yd line, had a roughing the kicker penalty to give them a free first down and jumped offsides on a 4th and 3.

And still won by 15.

We’ve got tons to work on but I’m happy with the W in week 1. Belt looks like it’ll be a gauntlet this year.

If App happens to win the SBC this year, I think this team would replace 2007 as the best App team of all time. UL looked good in the limited time I saw them and So did Ark State.

The first game of the season, in the rain, without fans in the stands, during a year where nothing has been normal. Of course it was sloppy. Just relax, the sky is not falling.

I don’t think y’all have peaked, but I do think that the coaching change has y’all behind schedule.

They played a team who's been trying to knock us off for three seasons now and in some lousy weather. It's not like we were playing Bovine University.

We’ve got tons to work on but I’m happy with the W in week 1. Belt looks like it’ll be a gauntlet this year.

App had 512 yards to Charlotte's 270 (ish). Untimely penalties including roughing the punter, offsides, fumbling at the goal line, and giving up a special teams touchdown.

It was Week 1 and it was raining. Yet App still won by 15. As we saw last year against Southern, inclement weather favors the underdog.

Stat of the day for me: 11-30 140 yards and 2 interceptions

App's defense was stout pretty much all day. Clean up the penalties and fumbles (rain) and things will be fine. Good day thus far as a conference.

you don't think COVID had anything to do with it? Hard rain was an issue as was penalties.

I think we all took Link for granted last season. Really struggled on special teams which led directly to 10 points of Charlotte's 20.

Either way, margin of victory last season was 15, this season it was 15. Id say App is right on schedule.

Yeah I get that. Our d played sloppier last year, but we spent the majority of the game up 2-3 scores. This year it looked like our O could do what it wanted but we always shot ourselves in the foot when we got close.

RE: App State has peaked
My sarcasm apparently doesn't translate well on the message boards.

This wasn't App State's best game, but I don't think they've peaked at all. Despite having no P5 games on the schedule, there are at least three games that have me concerned: Marshall, Louisiana, and Arkansas State. Texas State looked good last week, too. And of course Ga. Southern has had their number of late. But all games are winnable, and prospects can't bee to be when you're winning by 15 points with sloppy, sloppy play.

It's early. Lots of stuff for all of our teams to work out. I saw improvement for us today. You'll see it as you go forward.

While we had far from a top 25 performance today, I think we slide in on name recognition and as long as both us and UL keep winning that’s a top 20 matchup
