There has been no correlation established between depression, suicide, and overdose deaths increasing because the MAC or any other college football league initially decided to postpone, delay, etc.
The problem with this country is the lack of leadership from the top and no nation-wide plan to deal with this from the beginning. EVERYONE should be forced (yes forced) to wear a mask, practice social-distancing, etc.
IF we as a nation had done that back in March through May, this thing would be so limited and virtually contained we could be back to almost normal.
IT IS NOT JUST GOING TO GO AWAY! For God's sake, it's not the difficult -- no shoes, no shirt, no mask, no service. So damn simple.
Why don't you just start running red lights, stop signs, and speed everywhere since you refuse to take responsibility for anyone but yourself.
For the 100th time, 18-24 years are in danger because not enough is known yet about long-term affects. And most importantly, 18-24 year olds are among the worst offenders and have proven to be carriers who can transmit the virus to others even if they are asymptomatic!

Measures were taken to "flatten the curve" , and not to overwhelm the medical care system. That was effective. COVID hospitalizations are down considerably.
An economy cannot be shut down. Notice how food was delivered, the lights stayed on, first responders were working...it takes a lot of essential people to keep the population fed and safe.

Virus tend to flare and burn out, which is what is happening. The vulnerable and high risk need to take caution, but as more people catch the virus herd immunity is achieved at about the 60% level. Sweden never completely shut down and it's number, while high at first, are now way down.

This is a great way to look at it. Leaves me feeling optimistic.

This is the way I thought it should have been handled the entire time. Exercise higher caution if you're healthy, no matter your condition, a virus isn't fun. If you're at risk, be very very safe and exercise extreme caution around others.
