I've been monitoring the TN Dpt of Health COVID dashboard since this thing started.

They recently changed some of the stats displayed on the dashboard. Typically they've showed:

• Cases (Daily & Total)
• Deaths (Daily & Total)
• Hospitalizations (Daily & Total)
• Recoveries (Daily & Total)
• Tests (Daily & Total)

They've updated Hospitalizations to show Daily and Current. I get that.

They added a daily positive ticker to the Tests box. OK, fine.

They removed Recoveries. I don't get that. Maybe they're netting Hospitalizations and Recoveries and that's why they're now showing Current under hospitalizations. I don't know. I'll have to look at the data more closely to figure it out.

I also look at their downloadable daily data set. Don't click that unless you want to download an excel ss.


So, looking at the data set sheet, I noticed they stopped reporting NEW_RECOVERED and TOTAL_RECOVERED as of 9/3/20.

The two columns to the right of the recovered columns are NEW_ACTIVE and TOTAL_ACTIVE.


Interestingly, on 9/2/20, the last day they reported NEW_RECOVERED and TOTAL_RECOVERED, there were 35,359 TOTAL_ACTIVE cases.

On 9/3/20, the first day with no data reported for NEW_RECOVERED and TOTAL_RECOVERED, the NEW_ACTIVE number was -19,196 which dropped the TOTAL_ACTIVE number from 35,359 to 16,163.

The days that followed have more negative numbers.

As of yesterday, 9/10/20, the number of TOTAL_ACTIVE dropped from 35,359 to 15,047 in the span of 8 days -- a net decrease of 20,312 cases.


It makes me wonder if they're changing data definitions or how they calculate the data.

The disease spread first through areas of high population and now is fanning out into less-populated areas, including West Tennessee and nationally across the Midwestern states.

Locally theyre trying their damndest to justify the continued restrictions. Cases are flatlining in Shelby County, so they've got to try to find another narrative so they won't have to let up on restrictions. If case numbers are cratering in Shelby County as a whole, why does it matter if theyre 'increasing outside of Memphis proper'? Theyre still going down overall.


It's all BS.

I keep up with Mississippi's D of H site also with regard to hospitalizations. The number has fallen off the chart to numbers that aren't even worth mentioning. They used to put graphs showing the total number of hospitalizations/Available beds/Non-Covid Patients and Covid patients. They stopped doing that daily on Aug. 5th when the numbers started to decrease. As of yesterday there were 522 confirmed Covid patients in hospitals with 177 of those in the ICU. IN A STATE OF 3 MILLION. Yet supposedly anywhere from 15-40 people are dying from it everyday. They are obviously not dying in the hospital. A large number of the deaths are showing up on death certificates, which means they weren't diagnosed with Covid upon death, but rather afterwards when the DC was filled out. SCAM!!

The number of suburb cases in Shelby County could be up due to the Shelby County Health Department reporting false positives as demonstrated by two recent incidents:
1. Woman dead for 6 months receives letter stating she's COVID + (link)
2. Man receives letter stating COVID + even though he never tested

This whole thing has been a cluster since it started. It seems things change on a daily basis.

I'm not so sure that wasn't the plan of some from the start. If everything was cut and dried, then any with half a brain could analyze the stats and figure out that this aint what we've been told.

But by keeping everything constantly changing they can stay ahead of the people like umbluegray that are watching them...
