Not really. Paranoidemic, maybe, but not really a pandemic. From wikipedia:
"A pandemic is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a substantial number of people. A widespread endemic disease with a stable number of infected people is not a pandemic."
I still wouldn't describe this as a pandemic, nor would I have at any point. A pandemic is people dying in the streets. If it's truly a pandemic, there are people down the block, on your street, who have it. I come in contact with a lot of people in my job and daily life, and I still don't know anyone who has gotten it--except possibly me, I had something really bad back in December, but it lasted only a couple of days, so I don't know.
The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020, has declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic
Yes the "WHO" - the same group who is the root of the actual failure to begin with here........

Quote:What is a pandemic?
A pandemic is the worldwide spread of a new disease.
An influenza pandemic occurs when a new influenza virus emerges and spreads around the world, and most people do not have immunity. Viruses that have caused past pandemics typically originated from animal influenza viruses.
Some aspects of influenza pandemics can appear similar to seasonal influenza while other characteristics may be quite different. For example, both seasonal and pandemic influenza can cause infections in all age groups, and most cases will result in self-limited illness in which the person recovers fully without treatment. However, typical seasonal influenza causes most of its deaths among the elderly while other severe cases occur most commonly in people with a variety of medical conditions.

So you are using a WHO definition. But we just said that we don't trust the WHO.
Pandemic to me means something that is widespread. For all the fuss, total cases in the US are still only about 2% of the population, and deaths are still less than 0.1%. And those deaths are highly concentrated among a small and readily identifiable group. That's not widespread. It's also probably not something worth inflicting untold damage upon millions by shutting down the economy for half a year.
