Exclamation Two week break
Good thing the Tigers have a two week break to prepare for their next game against conference rival Houston.

Our defense was unimpressive Saturday. Our DBs were getting burnt downfield, once again. It seems like a traditional thing now with Tiger football.

Good news, our offense looked pretty explosive at times.

Brady looked impressive and improved from a year ago. Especially running and scrambling.

He looks like a dual threat qb now.

I'm worried about the lack of crowd noise. The Tigers feed off that hometown crowd enthusiasm at the LBMS.

26 wins out of the last 29 home games.

Also, kind of off topic but I like the new party deck below the press box. But, I think it would look better if it was closer to the field.

Ike, lots of possibilities with this. Nice concept for a book, sitcom, etc. We’d make way more um, get more funding for an OCS than we would with a GoFundMe. I’ll pitch it to my people.

RE: Two week break
Defense got better as the game went on when they started pressuring the QB. ASU had 155 total yards in the first quarter and ended up with 424. They were also 6-15 on 3rd down which we have been terrible on the last few years. We stopped the run as well only allowing 3;5 yard per carry. I don't think it's going to be a good defense but with our offense average is sufficient.

Send we consistently give up an opening TD, game after game, like the D has to wake up - game after game.

Maybe in the first quarter but only one pass over 15 yards after that. Maybe you watched a different game?

Very little practice time, new defensive coordinator, lots of new players playing their first games. Arkansas State will end up being one of the top offenses and one of the worst defenses. The defense overall did a very good job.

The offense at least for a little while and maybe permanently, will be different from the last 5 years. We don't have the luxury of having a homerun threat, unless Martin turns out to be that guy. Washington is going to be a good receiver, but he made a few mistakes running routes and we had a couple of drops. Coxie isn't a burner so aside from Austin, we will have to wait on our new guys to become playmakers, the same way we had to wait for Gibson and Jones last year.

Our offense is probably going to be very different. Instead of blowing defenses off the field we might have to grind out 28-40 points per game. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm ok with not scoring too soon. Gives the defense time to rest.

I agree completely. In exchange for that I'm ok with the defense not giving up as many points. I was just as disappointed losing Fuller as I was Norvell. Fuller typically does magic with his defenses starting in year two. We did luck out, I think with MacIntyre as a replacement.

Wow, this program has come a LONG way from the Rip Scherer era. Of course, the Larry Porter era reminds us how quickly things can turn south.

Close to a 90% winning percentage at home. Unreal.

Playing with 3 replacements in the secondary didn't help either.
But they definitely got better as the game went on.
One replacement DB (juco guy) started in his first ever D1 game, and got matched up against the 6-3 receiver for ASU. He figured it out as the game went on.

I don't understand the philosophy of not wanting to score quickly. I wish we would score on the first play of every single drive---- resting the defense then wouldn't matter---they would still force punts and turnovers. We score every possession ---and they score 3/4 of the time ---WE WIN.

You do realize we had new starters from the first of this week. Our lineup changed because of C19 protocols among other issues. Two starters didn't start. One didn't play until later in the game.

Our defense will likely not be an issue this season.

That's what I meant with my first comment about "3 replacements". They should be expected to have a learning curve.
