Our power hasnt rolled but I expect it to.
Our hot water has disappeared, so I fear an ice up at that line, keeping the cold in motion.
ERCOT is in a quasi state of panic currently, from a friend there and a friend at the PUC. Wind power has disappeared, even worse than the 50% drop reported yesterday. They simply dont have an idea how to get through the next two days without massive rolling blackouts.
Power on now, since 9:35. Prior to that, off at 12:45 am.
Pattern seems to be about 9-10 hours off, about 4 on.
Couple that with two sisters in separate hospitals for serious matters, that I cannot get to.
AND the cancellation of my Covid Vax.
Not a good week.
That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hang in there, OO.
Of course I will as I always try to make the best of any situation. You would be surprised at some of the things I have faced. Someday I wil regale you with stories of my sojourns in rural Mexico, such as flying in to discover the airport is now a cow pasture.
In many ways, things have gotten better. My power has been on, so at least I am not freezing, and I can get on the internet. But my water well is frozen at the well head, so no water for bathing, flushing, washing dishes or laundry. I do have drinking water. When we get a little more thaw, I am heading to my ex's for a shower and shave.
I have contacted my well man, and he says I will probably be without water for 3-6 more days. Depends on not only temps, but supplies. If my pump is damaged, big money.
Sister A, the crazy one, passed out in her shower Jan 27. Luckily we pay for an attendant to be there for safety when she showers. That started a sequence of emergency room, ICU, regular hospital, and rehab that ends tomorrow. She has been cleared to "go home". Although there are two problems with that: The docs recommend more care, so we are going to move her to an assisted living, but it had burst pipes and cannot take her tomorrow, so she has to go back to her old place, where she is terrified of her delusions. Solution: around the clock personal care at $21/hr.
Other sister, B, had surgery for a brain tumor. It is lymphoma. She is returning home today, but we don't yet have a prognosis or a line of treatment.
So all in all, I feel a bit like Davy Crockett when Bowie came to him and said "I guess we are OK for now. All the Mexicans are doing is playing their bugles."
Yeah, gallows humor is all I got now. But many others have worse situations.
Thank for the well wishes, and prayers where sent, but it really is just one day, one step at a time. It helps to pass the time (I am alone here) to come to the computer and debate things with my friends and frenemies, so thanks for the discussions and debates. I hope all is well for each of you in your lives, and getting better. I wish no man ill (man in the generic sense, not the gender sense).
