California Proposition 16
Repeal Proposition 209 Affirmative Action Amendment

Quote:A "yes" vote supports this constitutional amendment to repeal Proposition 209 (1996), which stated that the government and public institutions cannot discriminate against or grant preferential treatment to persons on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting.

A "no" vote opposes this constitutional amendment, thereby keeping Proposition 209 (1996), which stated that the government and public institutions cannot discriminate against or grant preferential treatment to persons on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting.

So in other words, democrats want to give the state to be able to legally discriminate against or grant preferential treatment to persons on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.

The State of California already does these things, it just has to do them subtly, under-the-table, and frequently by resorting to coded euphemisms and Newspeak.

If 209 is repealed, those actions will simply become overt, above-the-table and the overall attitude more (much more) in-your-face.

Sounds like the Democrats are the party of racism. Who’d a thunk it.

Let's get real in CA LGBTQ(WXYZ), Latino's and Blacks already get preferential treatment, the amendment would just allow it to become written policy. Can a state ignore Federal EEOC law, even write policies that defy it?

Well, unless someone decides to only hire white men, they will still be persecuted.

The exact %s will not be determined for a month or so because California takes that long to count ballots. But Prop 209 was not repealed by the voters of California. So the various demographic quotas — primarily racial/ethnic but not just that — that are enforced by the State of California in education, hiring, etc., will continue to be done under the table.
