There was a member of my freshman class who was said to be a Nazi. Never saw any indication that it was true.

We also had a monarchist and a Druid.

All this with no diversity.

So, the university is responsible for any kid that gets admitted and then ends up committing a crime? Still seems to be a very long stretch unless she had previously been arrested/indicted for committing a crime before being accepted to the university.

Well, I think the U is responsible for the choices they make in admissions.

It doesn’t mean they have to be responsible for the actions of the admitted, but should they, for example, admit a convicted rapist (as some schools will do if he is a five star athlete)....

Agree, but this kid didn't have any type of record before being admitted as far as reports go. That's why I ask why the university should apologize. Had she had a record, I could see a reason for the university to publicly take action. If not, then I don't see any reason for the university to apologize. They can take whatever actions they need regarding her status as a student, but that doesn't even have to be publicly announced other than "she is no longer a student".

Others here are saying Leebron is responsible, supported her actions, and the university needs to apologize for her actions. I don't see it.

If the U didn’t throw me out, they would throw nobody out. Just offering the idea for discussion.

It seems the need for apology is very dependent on the crime. Personally, I think the rioting and vandalism is enough to merit expulsion, but somehow the U failed to ask me.

If they don’t take action, then that is tantamount to me with accepting her with a conviction.

JMHO.

That's a forward looking statement and makes a lot of assumptions...primarily that the university will take no action. In that case, sure an apology or an explanation will be warranted as long as it meets HIPAA guidelines.

At this point, I don't see the university needing to publicly make any statement since they presumably accepted her under good standing.

She can hang out with her neighbor on East End Ave, Chiara de Blasio, who was also arrested earlier this summer.

On a serious note though, nothing like smashing some windows in Midtown to protest something that happened in Rochester!

That could end up being the mother of all gap years I ever heard about.

What should the school do about a student who riots and vandalizes?

I wonder if her second offense will come when they firebomb Lovett Hall while pulling down Willy's statue.

All in the interests of social justice of course.

I don't believe that Rice needs to offer an apology since she was not representing the school in any capacity at the time she committed her litany of felonies. If this had been a Rice Young Democrat event, where the club or a group of its members organized a protest which subsequently turned into a riot, then the University should definitely step up and apologize. What is the point of apologizing for things over which you have no control nor influence?

MyBB RE: What an embarrassment- she should be expelled immediately & school apologize
Sooooo to refresh...here's the type of student that current Rice admin and ethos (and many here, apparently) have been and are quite proud of today:

[Image: b0633b712faf99d65611ad76b71c9519eb066083...;amp;h=440]

...and here's what a few of us here are instead quite proud to call Rice Alumns and wish the school would seek to admit more of (folks of all backgrounds who retain these values, that is):

Quote:

Led off playing "Spirit In the Sky" and singing along to the words.
Unapologetically talked about God and faith. Focused on returning freedom and balance to education.
Ended signing then tossing basketballs to the crowd. A Conservative Republican from Rice University makes good as next Governor of Virginia with a back-to-basics speech about God, Education and basic American values for all. Sunk the shot from beyond mid-court. Congrats, Glenn. Now, go do exactly what you ran on.

edit: put in full speech vs msm edited one

Below is the full original descriptive quote on nut-girl:

Quote:That’s rich.

One of the Black Lives Matter protesters now facing felony rioting and misdemeanor graffiti charges — after a window-smashing free-for-all in Manhattan — is a wealthy Upper East Sider whose mother is an architect and whose father is a child psychiatrist.

Clara Kraebber, 20, is one of eight people arrested Friday night after a roiling, three-hour rampage that police say caused at least $100,000 in damage from Foley Square up to 24th Street.

“Every city, every town, burn the precinct to the ground!” the group chanted as it moved up Lafayette Street while busting the plate glass facades of banks, Starbucks and Duane-Reades.

The protest was organized by groups calling themselves the “New Afrikan Black Panther Party” and the “Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement.”

Given her privileged upbringing, Kraebber might seem an unlikely alleged revolutionary in those ranks.

Kraebber’s mother, Virginia Kindred, runs Kindred Arch.Works, a Manhattan architect firm that has designed spaces for Columbia University and NYU, and worked on numerous school and business spaces throughout the city.

Her father is Markus Kraebber, an Upper East Side child and adolescent psychiatrist who teaches at the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry.

In 2016 the family paid $1.8 million for their 16th-floor apartment on East End Avenue. The family also owns a 1730 home — featuring four fireplaces, according to property listings — in tony Litchfield County, Conn.

But Kraebber has joined in street protests for years before allegedly taking part in Friday night’s march.

She is now facing a maximum of four years prison on her top charge of first-degree riot.

“We don’t have much political power right now, being youths, but this is something we can do,” she told The New York Times in 2014, explaining why she joined a Manhattan rally on behalf of Ferguson, Missouri, police-shooting casualty Michael Brown.

She was a 14-year-old student at the elite Hunter College HS at the time.

Now, she is a history undergrad at Rice University in Houston, according to her Facebook page — where the most recent photo, from June, shows her grinning ear to ear while holding a goat.

As a member of the Rice Young Democrats, she helped work on Beto O’Rourke’s 2018 failed bid to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz.

She donated $121 to the Rice Young Democrats PAC.

“Does Beto make you feel this way too??? THEN GO VOTE!!!” she captioned a Facebook photo showing her looking up, earnestly, at the candidate.

Clara Kraebber didn’t have much to say when reached by phone at her second home in Connecticut Friday night.

“No — not right now — I don’t want to talk about it,” she said of her arrest.

“This is the height of hypocrisy,” one law enforcement source who was at the protest told The Post. “This girl should be the poster child for white privilege, growing up on the Upper East Side and another home in Connecticut.

“I wonder how her rich parents feel about their daughter. How would they feel if they graffitied their townhouse?”

Good Owl:

might I also remind ourselves here that William Luther Pierce is also a Rice alum.

If one doesnt know who this individual is, he is the author of a book called 'The Turner Diaries' -- a screed that was used by Timothy McVeigh in the genesis of his OKC plot.

My point is that, with all institutions, there are good people than emerge from them, and there are not so good. And those will be spread out amongst the political spectrum.

I am genuinely happy for Glenn, as I knew him in college, and because of Glenn's achievement that reflects on Rice.

Similarly I am happy because of Josh Earnest -- not because of whom he supported or the positions he advocated (there arent many in common I share with him, I adduce), but because of the stature that he brought to Rice.

Again, similarly, I am proud of Alberto Gonzales.

Not all Rice progressives end up as Klaeber above. And, not all Rice 'far right' types end up as William Pierce. I would hope that as each Rice alum achieves a special stature that fellow Rice alumni would at least appreciate them as their achievement in our society and for the recognition it brings rice.

I have noted on the Rice Facebook page (the 'we will never get a million followers page') that the announcement of Glenn's victory brought forth a chorus of 'who cares', 'he did it because he is a homophobe', and 'he did got because he is a racist' type comments -- they seem to outnumber the neutral and positive ones.

I was especially amused by the churlish comments of 'homophobe' in the section --- I am sure that few in that conversation are aware of whom Glenn roomed with one year at Rice, and that person's stature in the San Francisco gay community.

I was and am proud of Alberto Gonzales as well. Made me feel good about our school. The only famous Pierce I'm aware of had a first name of Ricky and played a mean roundball. I wouldn't have been friends with the fellow you mentioned, but some of the more radical Leftist agitators whom I had to unfortunately be distantly acquainted with on campus certainly would have been comfortable with that type of extremism. I'd imagine there's more of them now surrounding Willy's statue and shouting down anyone who doesn't tow their party line than there used to be. The admin and its racist indoctrination courses and agenda also seems more openly hostile to any real sense of balance, prudence and tolerance these days as well, to its and our school's detriment.

Yes. Curious as to which racist indoctrination courses Rice freshmen are required to take?

I remember coming out of my Linear Algebra class just absolutely hating myself. I thought it was because how difficult it was for me to learn the material, but maybe it was subliminal messaging filled with white guilt!!!

Quote:GLENDALE, Calif. - A man was arrested three times within 16 hours in Glendale and police are blaming LA County’s emergency "zero-dollar" bail order for his repeated release.

On February 13, just after 3 a.m., Glendale police officers observed the man, identified as 47-year-old James R. Langdon, pacing in a parking lot near the intersection of Colorado St. and Louise St.

Langdon run out of the lot and across a crosswalk against a solid "Don’t Walk" sign. Officers say they attempted to stop Langdon for the infraction but he fled from officers. Officers chased him on foot and after a brief struggle they detained Langdon for the violation. He was then arrested for obstruction.

According to a statement from Glendale police, before Langdon was arrested he requested medical attention and was transported to the hospital. He was then issued a notice to appear in court at a later date and released at the hospital.

Later that morning around 9:30 a.m., Glendale officers responded to a business on the 1400 block of E. Chevy Chase Dr. after receiving reports of a man trespassing. Once officers arrived on scene, they located Langdon who was trying to enter a closed part of the business.

Langdon was then arrested and booked for trespassing.

According to police, due to L.A. County’s emergency "zero-dollar" bail order, Langdon was released from custody within three hours of being booked.

Later that day, around 7 p.m. Glendale officers responded to an apartment building on the 600 block of Balboa Ave. regarding a burglary. Residents told officers they arrived home to find their doors open with several items inside displaced.

Officers arrived on scene and located Langdon walking through the building’s hallway. Once Langdon noticed the officers he ran into the victim’s apartment, which was unoccupied, and barricaded himself inside, according to police.

Burbank Police K-9 units were brought in as well as negotiators attempting to have Langdon safely exit the building.

Langdon kept refusing to exit so officer made entry into the apartment, where they continued negotiations with him. Shortly after, Langdon voluntarily exited the bedroom he had barricaded himself in and was arrested without incident.

The police department says Langdon caused an estimated $6,000 in property damage to the victim’s apartment and to the apartment complex. He was arrested and booked for burglary and felony vandalism and remains in custody on $150,000 bail.

Only in Amerika!...well, Kommiefornia. A Progressive Leftist's Wet Dream!

So what’s the solution? Implement a no bail system? Or implement a bail system that keeps people jailed only if they’re unable to pay the fee for minor crimes?

The story sounds like we do have a problem in America - mental illness that isn’t being treated. Dude seems to have a few screws loose.

Hey bro, you're the one complaining and putting the effort in to post about it.

I was asking what you would prefer have happened to this guy.

Would you have rather that the first offense led to him be jailed without a chance to bail out? Would you rather bail be so high that more people couldn't afford it? Something else?
