If Vitamin D is the cure, then this has been the biggest Hoax ever played on a global scale in Human history.

even if vitamin D isn't necessarily the cure, i still think it may be the biggest hoax ever. there's so many of these people, who are out there on the news, etc., who have their own agenda with this thing

I'm a big fan boy of vitamin D. Lol. This was a small (number was about 76) *double-blind randomized trial* that showed that on admission (post infection) to the hospital **HUGH** amounts of vitamin D supplementation made a significant / statistical difference. One group was given 76,000 IU on admission, 50000 next day, and stepping down for a week. Then 7000 IU afterwards. Result was 2% of supplemented patients admitted to ICU (1) compared to 50% of control group. Two died in control group none died in supplement in group. Evidence just keeps mounting that vitamin D is real.

I want to add this also - about a week ago the results of an analysis of a couple of supercomputers at Oakridge was published. They took the cells infected patients and analyze those to determine which genes were being expressed during infection. Billions of data points were collected and it took about a week - despite using the second fastest computer in the world. The result was an additional theory of how covid 19 causes disease. Also produced by these supercomputers was a number of existing therapeutics that may help. One of those was vitamin D:-)

All patients received standard care. Thus, it is not known if calcifediol would be effective on its own. And calcifediol is a medical drug used to treat parathyroid problems, so it is unclear if normal vitamin D supplementation would achieve the same effect.

One should be careful about taking too much Vit D. It can have harmful side effects. https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-h...alth-risks

There is a thread for this. Too many clinical trials to create one every time there's an article on one.

True, vitamin D is fat soluble and stays in your body. The patients in this study we're, apparently, really sick. not just admitted to the hospital sick but 50% of those in the control arm were 'intensive care sick.' Plus, being in the hospital, there's the advantage of having your vitamin D levels constantly read. I suspect the astronomical amounts of vitamin D were there to get the levels up really quick for these guys.

I have been taking it every day for years as a supplement. Most Americans are vitamin D deficient and that causes all sorts of health concerns.

As someone who owns a company that manages clinical trials, many of them for COVID-19 vaccines and drug and vitamin combinations. I say take vitamin D and Zinc for precautionary measures.

Sun exposure is how most of us get vitamin D naturally. The darker the skin (more pigment), the less vitamin D is produced through sun exposure. There is a doctor in Scotland who predicted early on in this Covid-19 environment that people of color would be disproportionately affected do to vitamin D deficiency. Statistics are proving him correct. He strongly recommended vit D, zinc & vit C to bolster the immune system & reduce inflammation.

I suppose winter is a time to also consider more supplements upon medical advice.
