RE: ULM DC Resigns
This sounds like a genuine resignation to me and not a "resignation" (especially with it being in September).

He donated a kidney in January. Not implausible that he is out of gas after that and not comfortable given Covid risk. His sister would be on immuno-suppressors so that would be a worry as well.

Dude, Rebowe isn’t going to leave a HC gig in his backyard to go to Funroe. Maybe if y’all were paying $400k a year.

In other words, average by UTEP standards.

Either way, ULM is probably going to be down a defensive coach for the season, and that's unfortunate.

Viator is making 390 so I'm sure we can pay 400

Either way, ULM is probably going to be down a defensive coach for the season, and that's unfortunate.

Stoker came to ULM following three seasons as the defensive coordinator at UTEP (2013-15).

In 2015, the Miners recorded 65 tackles for loss, including 22 sacks, and 12 takeaways.

From year one (2013) to year two (2014) under Stoker's leadership, the Miners improved dramatically on the defensive side of the football. UTEP lowered its points allowed per game from 39.3 in 2013 to 28.1. The Miners also improved in total defense by more than 100 yards per game, surrendering 368.1 yards per game in 2014 compared to 468.3 the previous season. UTEP also increased its defensive production in several major categories, including tackles for loss (from 45 to 76), sacks (from 13 to 26), interceptions (from 3 to 11), pass break-ups (from 30 to 40), quarterback hurries (from 12 to 40) and forced fumbles (from 9 to 14).

In addition to serving as defensive coordinator, Stoker also coached UTEP's linebacker crops.

Lol, something tells me you may not be familiar with how salary planning / budgeting works.

I’m not saying ULM couldn’t afford it, mind you. Just saying that the reasoning you just gave for why you think they could is not logical.

It will be interesting if ULM would be going up or down because of this.

Yeah dude maybe we can get all the players to chip in $50 each to pay for his salary like ULL did. Rebow almost left last year to go to SELA if we wanted him ( Which if we're smart we will) we can get him. Viator was arguably at a better place before he came here so I'm sure we'll be fine. In terms of athletic budgets isn't your AD in like 20 mil of debt maybe y'all should take some classes on it

Yea. Wow. What a torrent of anger over a pretty benign comment.

To clarify my point, it’s never as simple as saying “Employee X makes Y, so that means we can afford to pay potential new employee Z even more!”

That just isn’t how it works, and that includes at my alma mater.

I think he was talking about head coach, but I don’t see Viator going anywhere and I don’t necessarily see us being bad this year. Have at least 3 potential NFL draft picks. Totally depends on if one of our QB’s can play.
