They were relentless and some of them share a conference with you now. Sometimes I miss the FCS boards. There were some real characters. And anytime Ralph had a meltdown it was the best entertainment.

I just laugh at the doubters and where we are 10 years later. I was reading some of those old threads today. Hilarious.

I loved FCS football but they really couldn't stand to see start-ups. Y'all got a lot more grief then USA, UTSA, or Charlotte did. I think it was the media coverage you got.

It is weird to look back at the rough start and gimmicks and now you've got a much better stadium and beat Tennessee. I remember giving y'all some grief the first time we lost to you since y'all had been so bad. Well karma got me and now TXST is that bad team.

Ten Year Anniversary of GSU Inaugural Game (9/2/10)
It was never personal to me. Just have to get in where you for in.

I remember in 2010 when I knew we had to get out . Or 2011.

We were in a bye and I am watching CAA football on TV and it's like William and Mary vs Villanova I think. I clearly remember it being Villanova's stadium. And they pan to the home side and nobody is there. Like a couple dozen people. And they had this pep band. Maybe 8 or 10 people in the band.
And that was 25% of the crowd. I mean Morehouse was drawing 10k-12k in Div 2 here in Atlanta at the time. I was like ok we need to get out now. I knew cities are hard. Attention span is short and way too much to do. If you schedule a game at noon or 1 on a chamber of commerce weather Saturday in the Fall , have fun getting people to show up unless you're playing Georgia or Miami. So for me it was always about the reality of our situation. What it became for AGS folks ....wow.

RE: Ten Year Anniversary of GSU Inaugural Game (9/2/10)
FCS was a fun niche. The playoffs made it great. I miss those. Otherwise, FBS has been fun because more people know who you are and you get to play in more big games, and we built better facilities.

But the "east coast bias" and now NDSU bias is annoying. The Southland was looked down on and unless you played in the SOCON, CAA, or MVC you didn't matter unless you were Montana.

Three bowls in 6 years

Beat Tennessee

One of the largest stadium naming rights deals in the nation.

...and I should believe the naysayers and still be playing Rhode Island.

Or that's said it would take 20 years to beat GS

...or that we wouldn't go FBS within 5 years.

Of all people YOU should be quiet. Stop hating and sit down.[Image: 167a7696baa7c49a9e08efc0f4dd30ed.gif]

Rhode Island could probably beat you most year.

You shouldn't haven't gone FBS within 5 years, and it clearly shows by the lack of fan support by the students, alumni and "Atlanta Market".

Congrats on beating one of the worst UT teams to see the field, and that's saying something.

Congrats on being located on i75/i85 and are nothing but a giant billboard with your school team as an afterthought. All and all a really great achievement.

At the end of the day, your program is still a doormat. Literally the worst FBS record of all 130 teams, and it's not close. But continue to pat yourselves on the back.

Again, congrats on having a pulse, and having everything fall into your lap. Maybe one day you guys will actually do something with everything you've been handed.

Until then, enjoy all the ribbing people give you while you sit back and yearn for what actual support and earned success feels like.

I mean we still have the threads you and SaintDK started on GSUfans proclaiming your superiority over Southern before even playing a down a football. They’re archived on our hall of fame board.

It’s pretty amusing to revisit 10 years later. How’s “being the next Louisville” working out for you? When’s playing in “THE DOME” gonna give y’all that huge recruiting benefit over us? Man, y’all got Bill Curry to be your head coach? I bet that’s gonna work out great!

Go read the threads. You and Saint (mostly Saint) were pretty adamant that Georgia State was the next big thing in college sports. Y’all even said if we were lucky, y’all might invite us to “THE DOME” to be your annual tune up game before the season starts.

Golly gee, hope that offer is still on the table 03-lmfao 03-lmfao

Just like no one in this thread said said it would take 20 years for State to beat Southern.

Are we including all the BS the fringe fans said, or not? You can't keep having it both ways.

Because BELIEVE ME, we have PLENTY of BS your fans spouted off which is beyond comical at this point, considering in 10 years of back patting you've won 23 FBS games and 13 FCS games.

I never said any of that and I am not Saint.

I have posted my feelings in this thread. I was adamant about the fact that we would based upon history be in FCS no more than 6 years. I was right. And when people on AGS criritziethw Dome I said it was the best option available. It was also not a bad place to play or watch a game. I will never understand the folks who get mad or butthurt about a program doing what's best for their situation. It's like all the AAC fans mad at UConn? Why? Worry about your own program.

Oh boy. Butthurt indeed. *eyerolls*

10 years ago, Georgia State football started with bunch of D2 level talent guys without scholarships anywhere else who were literally lifting weights under a makeshift tent. Whether you'd like to admit or not, GSU has done quite a bit over last 10 years to build a proper FBS program in terms of recruiting, facilities, and resources.

Even if you dont really care, all that had to be said was simple congrats or just not say anything at all to stay classy.

The fact that some of you are triggered about nothing kinda says it all imo..
