Toss Up or Game with no heavy favorite:
App State @ Marshall
FAU @ Georgia Southern
UL @ UAB
Georgia State @ Charlotte
MTSU @ Troy
Troy @ MTSU
UTSA @ Texas State
UTEP @ ULM

Games the Sun Belt Team Should Win:
Charlotte @ App

Games the CUSA Team Should Win:
South Alabama @ Southern Miss W 32-21
UAB @ South Alabama
ULM versus La Tech (Shreveport)

WRONG!

After seeing last night, and seeing that UAB struggled with UCA, i'm thinking that can be a win for USA also.
anything can happen, but i think 8-4 is at least realistic here.

Meh. First game of the season with a vanilla playbook... just like everyone else.

You would have to be a complete idiot not to see that South Alabama was the superior team while dismantling USM Thursday night. Meh, right back atcha.

Dude, defensive much? When did I say that USA wasn’t the better team? The “Meh” was about the fact that I don’t think USM is as bad as what they showed. Both teams will improve over the season. No need for name calling. Sheesh.

Furthermore, my comment was about the UAB game. Reading comprehension helps.

USA beat USM

App will beat Charlotte, but they are better than what you think

App and Marshall.. at Marshall. I dunno. App is one of the best teams in and until today, I chalked it up as a win for App. Not so sure now. See: Boise St. last year...and we have the entire line back and a qb who can actually pass. We will see.

Troy will destroy MTSU based on today’s showing

ULM will beat UTEP

I think Charlotte will beat GSU at home..again, they are better than what you think imho...

I think FAU has the talent to beat GS at home, but a tossup imho.

Out of the games listed, I’m going to say that it’s 4-4. But that is just my opinion. That’s why we play the games on the field, right?

Btw... GO TXST!

App's new DC and defense without their two best players from last year will get tested.

App is one of the better teams in fbs. No doubt. I had this game chalked up as a loss for us until What I saw today from us today. In Huntington and add in the spice of the old SoCon rivalry.... we will see. If we had a qb who could hit a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle, I think we’d have beaten Boise last year... but, if if if..l. I get it... should be a good game.

Marshall seems to be pretty good. We'll have to see more of EKU to see if they were middle of the pack FCS or just garbage.

Very good point. We beat Morgan St 63-0 in 2016 and went 3-9. With a head case for a Qb. (Chase Litton). This kid, Wells, is better.. But you’re right, the test will be the App game. Win or lose that game, we are better off because App would beat us for sure with Green at the helm. Now, I at least have some confidence back.

Of course the new DC was our Co-DC two years ago and is bringing back the defense we played for 7 years prior to Roof coming in. Hopefully it will be a pretty smooth transition back as most guys already know him and that style of D.

I'm really looking forward to the game and restarting the rivalry a year early. The new QB looked very good (really accurate), but he did have a ton of time to throw. The pressure will turn up a good bit next week so it'll be interesting to see how he adjusts. You should find out a lot about him that day.

Hoping I can make it up. It sounds like a lot of App fans are buying tickets since our governor killed our home attendance this month.

It’s time to move on from comparing ourselves to the CUSA. I say we start going after the AAC. We have our opportunity this weekend to make a step forward, for us and our conference.

Are they still saying any of us would bolt to CUSA if we had the opportunity?

I mean, if App ever left the SB for CUSA, I’d definitely think our school gave up on climbing higher. I couldn’t even imagine tbh

It's not worth leaving the Sunbelt for CUSA... I like knowing where to look to find my team's game on TV. The American, on the other hand, I could get why teams would jump for that one.

Toss Up or Game with no heavy favorite:
App State @ Marshall L 7-17
FAU @ Georgia Southern Postponed
UL @ UAB W 24-20
Georgia State @ Charlotte Postponed
MTSU @ Troy W 47-14
Troy @ MTSU
UTSA @ Texas State L 48-51 OT
UTEP @ ULM L 6-31

Games the Sun Belt Team Should Win:
Charlotte @ App W35-20

Games the CUSA Team Should Win:
South Alabama @ Southern Miss W 32-21
UAB @ South Alabama L 10-42
ULM versus La Tech (Shreveport)

This is what it looks like so far, 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the games labeled as toss-up.

Based on Massey Ratings, here's the wins (keep in mind there's 10 Sun Belt teams and 13 CUSA teams participating)
App (SBC #1) Beats UNCC (CUSA #5)
UL (SBC #2) Defeats UAB (CUSA #3)
Troy (SBC #5) Defeats MTSU (SBC #13)
South Alabama (SBC #8) Defeats Southern Miss (CUSA #9)

Here's the losses:
App (SBC #1) Loses to Marshall (CUSA #1)
Texas State (SBC #9) Loses in OT to UTSA (CUSA #6)
South Alabama (SBC #8) Loses to UAB (CUSA #3)
ULM (SBC #10) Loses to UTEP (CUSA #10)

So in in 7 of the 8 games (other than Troy and MTSU) the CUSA team is higher within their conference rankings (percentile wise) and they got the 2 games between the top teams (App-Marshall and UL-UAB) at home and it's still 4-4.
