I got pork butt roast for .99 cents. Going to smoke it for 10 hrs or so and make some pulled pork. Jewel Cole slaw (like fattys the best), fresh corn on. cob. Great labor day meal. Hawaiian buns for the sammich

Never had "pilled pork" before, Klake. Sounds...interesting? Rimshot

In all seriousness, gotta make up for Saturday somehow. Your menu sounds like a great start. Enjoy!

Sounds like making pulled pork after taking Xanax.

I recently spatchcocked a chicken and it was quite satisfying. Works great on the grill or in the oven, I think it's the only way to go.

I would never admit that on a public discussion board (unless it's for adults only). Plus, and this is just some advice, if you are going to c*ck a chicken, you should have not spat on it. 05-nono

I'm happy to take some of that off your hands if you need an official (impartial) taste tester. I'll do it for free too just because I'm such a nice guy.

What temp you going use to cook it, and what internal temperature are you aiming for. I see recommendations all over the place? Are you using a gas grill or a smoker?

I prefer not saucing the pork when I serve it and giving people a choice of sweet, spicy and mustard sauces.

Smoker. Try to keep at 250 degrees. After chopping, then can decide on sauce. Liberally have to apply BBQ seasoning. Hickory wood chips the best

You guys take cooking too seriously. Just throw a dozen Red Hot Chicago dogs on the grill, slap 'em in moist buns, slather 'em with condiments of choice..... and you're done. Terrific meal in a short time. And, you will be the envy of anyone who has ever tried to get a hot dog at Huskie Stadium or the Convo.

I'd recommend cooking @ 225 degrees until internal temp hits 203. Make sure you put a nice dry rub on it before. I use either mustard or olive oil as a binder to ensure the rub stays on. Plan on 1 1/2 - 2 hrs per pound.

What kind of wood do you use? Ive been big on cherry/hickory combo for pork starting last few years.

Thanks for "reminding me" about the 1/2 brisket i need to smoke this weekend!

Jewel does have good slaw. It's not the cheap crap. If you get a chance try the blue cheese slaw. I sometimes can convince the person at the counter to substitute it when I get the 8 piece meal and it's on sale The grandma's potato salad too.

ENJOY!!!

I always do beef, keep cheapo ones for chili dogs and beef dogs, to me, dont go good with chili and actual ruins them. I can never get the beef dogs to taste like a ballpark. Probably because Im too lazy to do the grilled onions. So I go Chicago style.

Now at 12 midnight Im thinking of a Gene n Jude's

Must be the liquid diet all day before my colonoscopy in 8 hrs. (1st one)

Here's to starting another 1/2 gallon of industrial laxative right now!!!!03-puke

RE: Since sports are dead...
I also picked up the .99/lb pork today. Had went into store intending to get an inside round or rump roast for Italian beef. After comparing $3.99 vs .99, had to go with pork. I will use same cooking process as with beef, only calling it Italian pork.
Pulled pork is good, but there is a burnout factor from being over-exposed to it. I will interested to see how my guests respond to it.
