Not great for the league to lose last years rookie of the year. I hope he returns soon. I think the Lane Kiffin’s of the world will try to slide into his DMs.

I wouldn't be surprised if genetics plays a role in the outcome of this disease. You inherit your immune system also you know.

He's gone. He's eligible for the draft next spring. Won't be coming back.

And Geoff Calkins in an article today alluded to an agent being involved.

People grieve in different ways, maybe for his brother he wants to put that pain into football and grind it out.

The 2 are independent and 1 decision shouldn’t be compared to the other.

You could be asymptomatic with covid-19 and still have subsequent heart problems, lung problems, fatigue and so forth. There are football players experiencing this. Not something you want to get if you are an aspiring pro athlete.

Sickle Cell is on the list of pre existing conditions that are at higher risk. Sickle Cell is predominately in the Black community.

Black athletes have died with just the Sickle Cell condition and high athletic exertion. Combine sickle cell with covid and it’s probably a deadly mix for an athlete.

I wish him well, the timing is not optimal though. fortunately Memphis has an incredible stockpile of running backs that would have seen Gainwell more in a slot position in 2020. i just hope it doesnt foul up the ASU game plan too much because theres not much time to adust

If he buried 4 family members in 6 months he would be better off playing football than staying in the same environment where 4 family members lost their life... I wish him well and hope he stays healthy and winds up in the NFL, prayers for him and his family.
