So so sad
I have spent my whole life rooting for sports and playing. I am now watching politics and real life enter into our sacred pastime. I saw a high school football game on espn and it felt so strange. I cannot believe half of college football is playing and we are not. My daughter is a sports media major at va tech and she is bummed out and so am I. We can't be the only ones.your thoughts watching sports now? My older brothers who were in the military and got me liking sports won't even follow it no more. Just sad, really sad.

RE: So so sad
Having just turned 60, I’ve come to the realization that I will never again take the time to attend any professional event in any major sport. Somewhat surprisingly, I am perfectly fine with it.

Let’s just bring back ODU men’s basketball. That’ll suffice.

RE: So so sad
When has sports not been infiltrated by politics and real life? How about Jesse Owens at the 1932 Olympics with Hitler watching? How about Jackie Robinson integrating baseball? How about Muhammad Ali in the 60's and John Carlos raising his fist at the playing of the anthem during the 1968 Olympics? How about the US and Russian boycotts of the Olympics? Maybe football has not been affected as much, but politics and real life in sports is nothing new

John Thompson passed away. I will never forget the frustrated and exasperated look on his face when his Georgetown team couldn't stop Ronnie Valentine when we beat them at their place.
