Ragin' Cajuns win it going away. They beat us a couple times in basketball back when they went by Southwestern Louisiana.

Why does Iowa State get preseason rankings every year?

Arkansas State is a good program, so the 37-24 Memphis win didn’t worry me. Arkansas State will be a contender in the Sun Belt this year.

Yea. Memphis is going to be damn good again this year. Top three in this League are really tough.

Big 12 Blinders...there needs to be at least 4 Big 12 teams ranked, just like there has to be 5 ACC teams ranked 03-lmfao

Nit-Pick, but "Louisiana" was UL-Lafayatte. SW-Louisiana is still SW-Louisiana but changed their mascot from the "Indian" to the "Warhawk."

One of the all-time best videos is from when the "U LA-La" Cajun mascot got into a brawl with the SW LA Indian, and proceeded to rip the foam head off the Indian costume. Think when the Bearcat got arrested for throwing snowballs but with actual violence. It was so bad, the NCAA actually adopted a "Mascot Code of Conduct" in response to the incident...

It seems a good portion of the Tiggers are down with the Covid, though... It could really dent their overall record if they lose a couple of games here while down...

The Big 12 loses two home non-conference openers to the "little sisters of the poor" LOL. I think you'll definitely see that home field advantage isn't going to be the same this season due to low crowds/noise. Someone who did take care of home business is Mack Brown's squad...

Yeah, I'm worried about that. In order to bolster our own playoff hopes, we need Memphis and UCF to beat everyone not named Cincinnati on their schedule.

Didn’t watch the game but the score was 17-6 late before UNC a couple TDs down the stretch.

Sorry but you are wrong Louisiana UL-Lafayette was definitely Southwestern Louisiana years ago (not sure their name at all of our meetings ...think we are 2-2 against them) They had a very good period in basketball; but a bit of a renegade program.
"In August 1973, Louisiana—then known as Southwestern Louisiana—became only the second school to receive the so-called "death penalty" from the NCAA. The basketball team was found guilty of over 120 violations."

Ok...I see where they changed names. I was thinking of UL-Monroe who were the Indians, now Warhawks.

Mea culpa.

When combined with the extension Fickell received, this further points to Fickell being here for at least a while longer. Maybe Kelly retires after the 2024 season and Fickell leaves for Notre Dame. That would likely be after Landon Fickell graduates. 8 years would be a heck of a lot longer than anyone would expect UC to hold onto a successful football coach, and would cement Fickell's legacy as the greatest football coach in school history.

Of course, by 2024, maybe we'll have some good news on the conference realignment front and Fickell won't have as much incentive to leave. A man can dream.

It'd be cool if we were conference mates with ND and it was, at that point, a financial lateral move. One can dream.
