Men’s tennis cut as well. Gymnastics was mens and swimming was both men and women. So four sports cut.

High School classmate of mine was an All-American diver at Iowa. She had a ton of stuff on her Facebook page about this. I think she said it was a 100+ year-old program!

I feel this is just the beginning for non-revenue sports

So NIU is cutting as well then, what goes? Hope all of these colleges are planning to phase these sports back in over time.

Just goes to show how fiscally irresponsible programs like Iowa have become. The Big Ten pays out over $50 million to each member institution and somehow Iowa is still going to be $60-75 million in the hole.

They spent $11.806 million in 2018 on coaching salaries alone and have $11.2 million in athletic department debt per year ($209 million dollars in total athletic department debt).

I still wonder if NIU will use the 85 scholarships allotted. I could see them only using 70. They might also split scholarships. Room and board for one player and tuition for another. This is common practice in the non revenue sports
