Exclamation AP Preseason Top 25
https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...te-alabama

I love these little blurbs:
Quote:When the season starts -- if the season starts -- the Buckeyes and 53 other Bowl Subdivision teams will no longer be eligible for inclusion in the Top 25 because they have postponed their seasons to the spring.

Quote:All Division I teams were eligible for the preseason AP Top 25, but after the season starts, only teams scheduled to play in the fall are eligible. That leaves 76 FBS teams from which to choose.

The article is a little weird, because it doesn't actually give the poll yet. It says that Cincy is number 19, but then lists 19 as a Big 10 school at the end of the article. It says the AAC has spots 20 and 21, but 20 is Minnesota.

We are massively underrated. We return way too much firepower. The only unknown is the coach.

Of the teams playing, we are #17 in the AP and #20 in the coaches

Added to the offensive firepower is our new former coach of the year heading up the defense.04-cheers

I realize North Carolina has some upside, but they went 6-6 reg season playing in a mediocre conference. They seem determined to make sure the ACC has two ranked teams.

Our schedule is excellent we play apparent #11 Cinncy, #12 UCF, and also receiving votes Navy and SMU. There is a path to the invitational tourney at the end of the season, and an excellent shot at the NY6 bowls. The fuzzy fruit bowl would not be bad, GTG.

RE: AP Preseason Top 25
Every year I update my database. I take the final rankings from the last AP poll prior year, and compare it to the preseason rankings current year. I track every team who has received votes since CFP era began in 2014. And I show the change from end of last year to now. Then pivot it by conference.

Here is the update from 2014-2020, average change in ranking spots by conference:
B12 +4.2
ACC +2.9
SEC +2.8
PAC +2.5
B10 +1.8
Independent +0.6
AAC -2.7
CUSA -2.7
Sun -4.1
MAC -5.1
MWC -6.3

The P5 bias could not be any more clear.
