I don't even understand the point of benching Hurts

Well Pederson claimed it was to get his veteran 3rd string QB some reps. It was a meaningless game for the Eagles and the loss actually helped their draft order for next season.

However, I don't believe him when he said he was "coaching to win". Taking Hurts off the field clearly hurt his team's chances to make the comeback win. I can certainly see him losing the respect of some of his players.

Regardless, the first Giants/Eagles matchup of 2021 should now be must-watch TV.

Their were earlier games for that to occur if he truly wanted to evaluate his 3rd string QB. That move was the antithesis of 'coaching to win'. If you don't care about the game, why play any starters at all after the second quarter?

Browns are going to be missing their Head Coach, two additional coaches, their Pro-Bowl Guard, and their 3rd best WR for the wild card game. COVID sucks.

Safety Harrison added to the COVID - will not be available Sunday - list. Browns gotta dig deep and somehow, someway, find a way Sunday night.

Lamar gets his revenge.

Are there any words to describe what’s going on in the Browns-Steelers game?

Someone pinch me. No, make that slap me in case I'm dreaming. The Cleveland Browns have one of the best first quarters in playoff history and take down the Steelers 48-37. They were missing their head coach, some assistant coaches and several key players and weren't able to practice until Friday. The players flew on two separate flights and the coaches were driven to Pittsburgh to minimize COVID risks. Didn't matter. Browns were hungry and took care of business on the road. Big Ben pouted on the bench after the game and didn't shake hands with the team he's dominated for over a decade. Punk move. Whatever. Go Browns!

Browns decimated defense got 5 turnovers against Big Ben & Co.... Funny how much their fans brought up last week as a win against their JV team!!

Hopefully we see Conklin good and ready for next week. As well as Bitonio, Ward, and obviously coach Stefanski back and healthy from covid.

My yinzer friend asked the same, though for him it was a nightmare. I do think that the turnovers and the Steelers lack of run D minimized the risk putting the game in Baker's hands might have resulted in.

Tips cap to the Browns. I thought AVP did a solid job calling the plays. Definitely the end of an era in Pittsburgh and the sooner we move on from Ben the better. No need to prolong the inevitable for another year. Life after Ben may be painful. It was 20 years between Bradshaw and Ben and it may be another 20 years before a new one comes along. I'm sure Browns or Jets fans can say how difficult it is finding a franchise QB. They just don't grow on trees.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Browns CRUSH the Steelers. Especially given their own circumstances with Covid issues.

SUN JAN 17, 3:05 pm
6 Browns 11-5 o57
1 Chiefs 14-2 -10

There is zero pressure on the Browns in this game. No one thinks they can win. And they probably won't but they will play loose and with confidence. Interesting to see what kind of game Kareem Hunt will have against his former team. The coaches including Stefanski are back tomorrow and the starting corners returned today. We just need All-Pro guard Joel Bitonio who can't come back until at least Friday. Probably will be a high scoring game...surprise!

RE: 2020 NFL Thread
This weekend is going to be a fun one:

The Rams top tier defense against Aaron Rodgers and Company. I think the Packers have the edge here especially with Goff not being 100% with the thumb injury.

Ravens explosive run game against the Bills prolific pass game in Upstate NY. With both Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen notching their first playoff victories last week, this should be exciting. As a Browns fan, I feel for Buffalo. Both Cleveland and Buffalo have experienced tough times economically and both have had their fair share of woes on the field in the past few decades. I'm picking the Bills.

The Cinderella Brownies take on the defending Super Bowl Champs in Kansas City. Hopefully Cleveland can establish their ground game and keep Mahomes off the field. If money was on the line, I'd pick the Chiefs but how amazing would it be if the Browns could pull it off?

Bucs and Saints wrap up the weekend. "The History Channel" Bowl will feature two quarterbacks in their 40's, both of whom will be Hall of Famers. No one has ever beat Tom Brady three times in a season, so we'll see if the Saints tough defense can slow down the GOAT. I'm taking the Bucs in this one.
