That's a great illustration why 4-team divisions are a mistake, especially in football where so few regular season games are played. If the NFL had four 8-team divisions instead of eight 4-team divisions, none of the NFC Least teams would make the playoffs.

And miss out on having the most popular teams/fanbases in the playoff? Not a chance?

The current format ensures that one of those four teams will be in the playoffs, but on the other hand, in a different season where they're not all terrible, a different format might mean three of them make the playoffs, which would be even better for TV ratings. Think of MLB, where the unspoken reason for adding wild card teams in the first place was to create the possibility that both the Yankees and Red Sox would be in the playoffs.

IMO the wild cards were created because the MLB postseason didn't have that many teams involved. The NFL added another wild card team in order to capitalize on postseason money as well.

While your 3 NFC East playoff scenario is possible, the current guarantee outweighs it IMO.

Ravens @ Steelers postponed again ... Now to Wednesday night.

I have serious doubts this game gets played.

I don't see what the NFL's resistance is to a week 18. Honestly everyone wants the Super Bowl moved back the President's Day weekend. With no/few fans involved, this would be the season to try that option.

If I were a TV exec paying obscene amounts of money for the Super Bowl, or an advertiser spending a large chunk of my annual ad budget on Super Bowl ads, I wouldn't want the game on a holiday weekend when fewer people will be at home than the weekend before.

The Sunday before that weekend seems like the best day for everyone's money-making interests, and that's the day they have.

looks like the game is going to be played... That gets everyone to 11 games played (with 2 at 12).

President's Day isn't a major travel weekend.

Big enough, especially for skiers and snowboarders. No reason to mess with any holiday weekend if you're paying top dollar to broadcast or advertise on the Super Bowl.

Yeah, I think we're coming around to the fact that this team is legit and there is no trap door. The Browns looked like in the second half against the Titans that they weren't sure what to do with a 31 point lead LOL. Life is good in Browns Nation!

Yeah, now it smells like three-day-old raw meat instead of three-week-old raw meat. 02-13-banana

Time to spike the fuggin' ball Browns fans! The 17 year playoff drought is over! It feels soooo good to get the monkey off our backs. The Browns have won 11 games for the first time since 1994. Enjoy it Browns Nation!
