2021-22 WAC Basketball Commitments...
Cal Baptist received the commitment of Aussie Taran Armstrong, a 6'3 PG. He is the younger brother of the Lancer's Tre Armstrong.

According to the Rivals recruiting site, Armstrong is a 3-star prospect with an offer from Rutgers.

RE: 2021-22 WAC Basketball Commitments...
Utah Valley received the commitment of Ethan Potter, a 6'8 combo forward from Layton, UT. He will finish up high school and serve his LDS mission before joining the Wolverine team in 2024.

https://www.standard.net/sports/high-sch...13165.html

Per the article...

"Potter averaged 22.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 60.7% from the field and 77.6% from the free-throw line in 24 games this past season, according to statistics provided by the team."

Looks like a good pick up for Mark Madsen.

We also signed 6’3” guard out of Burleson Centennial, Tayton Conerway. I know he was mentioned as a possible player for this year but we can wait.

Both Conerway and Luckey are playing at Grayson College this year. With the COVID rules, both will have four years at Tarleton.

Ahhhh, there was a covid wokaround for him (Conerway) to probably get his grades up and still hoop.

I was wondering what happened, I hear The Force is strong with this one.

Looks like a good pick up for Mark Madsen.

With 2, potentially 3 Utah schools around, we'll get even more user to these guys that we feel like we've seen/heard about forever. With a redshirt year and 2 years for their missions....

I'm hoping Mark Pope stays at BYU for a long time so there are no more big talent transfers going BYUs direction. Of course, I hope UVU still gets their share coming from BYU.

Madsen is building something good at UVU. Any WAC school that signs the top player in their state is going in a very good direction.

Also love that Oliver will come in with some familiarity of at least one opposing WAC player, as he is currently teammates with GCU commit Isaiah Shaw at PHH Prep.

RE: 2021-22 WAC Basketball Commitments...
NMSU gets the commitment of 6'2, 160-lbs, point guard Gerald Doakes out of Jacksonville, AR by the way of Houston prep school. Depending on the recruiting site, he is considered either a 3-star or 4-star HS prospect. Multiple sites have Doakes getting offers from such schools as Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, and Abilene Christian.

RE: 2021-22 WAC Basketball Commitments...
Since Gerald Doakes has already graduated at SPIRE Pre-school in Houston this past December, apparently he will join the Aggie team this week and become eligible for the remainder of this season. So, NMSU just added a highly touted point guard to it roster now. Now NMSU just need to actual make it back on the court so Doakes has time to acclimate to Jans program and hopefully be an impact come WAC Tourney time. NMSU plays GCU next week (maybe). Currently, NMSU has four players sitting out... Jabari Rice, Clayton Henry, 4-star Oklahoma State transfer Marcus Watson and now 4-star HS Gerald Doakes... Plus what ever players which are recovering from their COVID positive test at this time. If NMSU ever gets healthy, completely eligible, and gets some games under their belt, they could become a very good team come March. We will see.

With Doakes, Oliver and White, NMSU has a very athletic group coming in next season. Unless, Kiir or McNair can step it up, I hope Jans can find a another big man for this recruiting class.
