Definitely a shooter. 51% from the field, 47% for 3's, and 92% from the line. And he's not just being fed the ball for open shots. He's making his own.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but teams are limited to 12 scholarship guys right? (Obviously excluding the seniors staying an extra year who don't count against the cap)

incoming freshman Shaw isn't taking a scholarship so GCU is at 12 plus SMM who is returning and doesn't count against the total.

Not that I don't trust whoever told you, but how do you know Shaw isn't coming in on scholarship? Did I miss something? Verbal Commits shows him as a scholarship player

I have no idea... I'm guessing but I assume since Isaiah Shaw's father is a GCU assistant, he is paying Shaw's way; or getting an employee discount. Is that why Shaw is not taking up a scholarship Lopes87?

With the addition of Holland Woods, I think GCU has met its scholarship limit...

Scholarship Players

1. Jovan Blacksher Jr.
2. Holland Woods II
3. Chance McMillian
4. Jalen Blackmon
5. Jaylen Stone
6. Liam Lloyd
7. Walter Ellis
8. Kobe Knox
9. Gabe McGlothan
10. Taeshon Cherry
11. Yvan Ouedraogo
12. Dima Zdor
13. Aidan Harris Igiehon
----------------------------
14. Isaiah Shaw - Daddy discount
15. Sean Miller-Moore - Senior discount
16. Raef Gerdes - Walk-On
17. Ethan Spry - Walk-On

According to WAC Digest, Seattle pick up Houston transfer Cameron Tyson, a 6'2, 190-lbs, Sophomore, Guard who averaged 6.2 ppg last season but averaged 13.5 ppg as a freshman at Idaho.

Yeah I just went back and looked at GCU's announcement. Casey Shaw is his dad, so he is likely on the daddy discount, which I won't complain about. Seems like a good player. Averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds

This article from about a month ago states Shaw is a walk on.

I've seen that Seattle U graphic on twitter a few times. Does that mean they are playing in Key Arena after all?

I'm not sure that they will get many games in Climate Pledge Arena this upcoming season. More talk about Kraken's AHL team might be playing their 1st season before moving to Palm Desert the following year now. I also would love to know how much more SU will be charged in rent b/c SU is in cost cutting mode with their athletic department. Lastly Hayford has 4 pg's on his roster now and the post player from WSU looked as stiff in limited minutes with WSU as Uros Ljeskovic did for GCU... I think SU is going to try and play small ball next year and try to run off other WAC teams bigs..

I don know if I would characterize Brandton Chatfield (6'10, 238-lbs) an stiff. He was just a freshman learning a new system. In his HS highlight video, he looks like he has good mobility. Seattle also sign another big man in Clancy Bird (6'9, 200-lbs). Bird appears to be a stretch-4 with guard like skills.

As I see it right now, Seattle's starting line up is as follows...

PG: Darrion Trammell (5'11, 165, JR)
SG: Cameron Tyson (6'2, 190, SO)
SF: Riley Grigsby (6'6, 220, SR)
PF: Emeka Udenyi (6'6, 225, SR)
C: Kobe Williamson (6'8, 225, SO)

The addition of Cam Tyson, will make Seattle a very dangerous team. Although Tyson played a smaller role at Houston, his freshman year at Idaho, Tyson averaged 13.5 ppg and knocked down 106 threes while shooting it behind the arc at a 42.9% clip. Coupled with Trammel's 20.5 ppg, that could give Seattle possibly the best guard tandem in the WAC. And, best perimeter trio if you throw in Grigsby's 17.8 ppg into the mix.

First real freshman on scholarship in several years, IIRC.

Coupled with Trammel's 20.5 ppg, that could give Seattle possibly the best guard tandem in the WAC. And, best perimeter trio if you throw in Grigsby's 17.8 ppg into the mix.

I know WA HS talent pretty well and where he grew up not much skill to go up against and 509 Elite isn't a top 10 boys aau program in the state. Most HS kids from the 509 play for western washington AAU programs. I've seen enough of him that when it comes to equal talent he has had a tough time in HS/AAU and so on. I'd also say Kobe Williamson isn't very athletic but I'll take him over Chatfield no question.

Tyson on the other hand will be tough for most WAC schools next year w/o question.
