SWAC releases Spring 2021 Football Schedule
Has any other conference done this yet? I do not see it happening, but ...

They still have some Classics, like the Bayou Classic, listed as "vs", implying they still intend to play them at neutral sites:

You’d think they’d dress it up some rather than copy and paste straight from Excel

FWIW, i like it - it's clean and easy to read. Not buggy with a bunch of graphics, etc.

This would be a good time to catch some SWAC stadiums. 07-coffee3

It looks like a 10 team conference playing a 6 game schedule, all in conference. Others may follow suit.

This is similar to what I have been saying the MAC should do ... a six game schedule is a division round robin plus one cross division game, so per the existing rules we'd be qualified to have a CCG.

Maybe the NCAA could waiver for one season for the NCAA D2 HBCU schools to play D1 schools in the spring? You got schools that can help these schools to re-coup money lost from missing the fall. Tuskegee and Miles could help eastern schools. Lincoln, Lane and Lemoyne-Owen would help UAPB some.

Lemoyne-Owen doesn't have football.

I am glad that the SWAC has plan and a schedule for the Spring unlike some other conferences.

I guess there isn't going to be a Gulf Coast Classic to be played at Ladd in Mobile, AL in the Spring 2021?

I agree, the SWAC isn't getting the credit it deserves for actually having a Spring plan, which IIRC nobody else has as of now.

As for this year's Gulf Coast Challenge, scheduled for September, that was going to be between two non-SWAC HBCU's, Miles College vs Morehouse College, but the SIAC, Miles's conference, canceled its fall sports back in early July.

I think that originally, meaning in July, the GCC was committed to finding a replacement and going ahead with the game, but their Twitter has been silent on that since early July. I very much doubt they will be able to reschedule, as Morehouse has canceled fall sports now as well.

So since the SWAC isn't involved this year, I'm not sure what is going on with the GCC.

Interesting there's no Jackson State/Southern game. I thought that was a fairly big rivalry.

It's the biggest game for Jackson State and the second-biggest for SU, after Grambling.

I am surprised to not see it either, but these are tough times.

But there is seemingly nothing preventing it. Each school has two cross-division opponents, so JSU and Southern could easily have been scheduled. Something else must be at play, I assume. Perhaps JSU wanted to take a break and play some easier opponents.
