Marshall is #284 in USNWR and R2 in Carnegie research. Any academics nonsense can be put to bed.

If Marshall wanted back in the MAC, the MAC would take them. The only people in disbelief are those with a long-documented vendetta against Marshall.

The only question worth asking is whether Marshall would ever ask back in.

It would and they'd displace someone else in the MAC in the standings and for exposure. Changes the face of the MAC.

- Displace someone else, who may average less than 5,000 fans, by a program that averages over five times that, and also travels well... Not to mention one of the best G5 football programs in our geographical area...
Then changing the face of the MAC might be a good thing...

That entire line of reasoning doesn't make any sense when there is hardly any fans because of social distancing and we have no idea how long that is going to last.

The only thing I have confidence in that could help the MAC both competitively and financially in the uncertain world we face would be an expanded CFP with more bowl games and money to support an 8 team playoff. Better access point to a CFP game (e.g. any conference champ in the Top 25) would help recruiting.

The uptick in MAC recruiting, especially the recruiting that led WMU to load up for a Cotton Bowl run I directly attribute to the improved access points and likewise the higher level of recruiting sustained by Toledo, Miami and others.

At the moment we are 2-3 years out on the CFP negotiations. There is a chance of course they end up going unfavorably for the MAC but base on the trend of the last 30 years each successive contract has been an improvement.

Have you ever actually been to Marshall's campus or Huntington for that matter?

Its not the kind of place I would want to go back to.

Been there a number of times... It’s not Boston or Seattle, but neither is Ypsi or Muncie... Going to Marshall football games is a pretty big deal down there, and have never had any issues with the locals with a lot of mutual respect between the two fanbases...
Furthermore, Herd fans support their local university more so than big school state (WVU)...
- What a novel idea !!!

Funny, I was just in Athens in early September. First time there since the MAC days. And just like the MAC days, not much there or to do. Keep on hating. 03-lmfao

What are you? Oddball reincarnated? Your disdain for Marshall and Huntington is borderline irrational. And Athens is no Club Paradise.

I like the MAC, I respect the MAC, and there are times I miss the MAC..... BUT, I would never want to go back to being forced to play home games on Tues/Weds night. That is a deal breaker for me, especially now that Stadium bought the Fox RSNs and we are once again getting solid coverage on Saturdays.

We would lose money and fan interest by playing on Tues/Weds nights.

Marshall has a large enough fan base to recoup lost revenue, and that they would be just fine w/o the MACTION weeknight tv slots...

No we wouldn't. We would lose money through drop in ticket sales, concessions, etc.

Marshall currently gets 400,000$ from tv ( https://www-pilotonline-com.cdn.ampproje...fcc22.html )

The MAC members receive an estimated 833,000$ a year (https://www.crainscleveland.com/article/...id-in-2014 )

I don't think your difference would be THAT much cash. you wouldn't go from selling out to ZERO fans and concessions. You'd lose a couple thousand fans for your final 2 home games. And actually gain revenue from keeping CUSA members as interesting rivalry OOC games.
