The bad boy image of the Miami football program didn’t occur until Schnellenberger started recruiting inner city local kids. The Miami of 50s, 60s, and 70s would have fit right in with the other Magnolia schools.

I know the history of Miami, I also know they played big-time schedules in the 50’s. They wouldn’t have been involved in the Magnolia if they were playing Florida, Nebraska, Iowa, Auburn, Maryland, Alabama, Notre Dame, Pitt etc. as an Independent.
